This is where it all started for Timbaland, his first album where he produced all the tracks and let us into his world. Ok its billed as our world but Magoo is just the front for the mastermind behind the beats.
Its a very experimental album which gives you the impression that all this was fun. An album made with your mates and trying to feel out what sounded the best, as the years have gone by his sound has become more and more popular and will always find one of his productions in the charts. As for Magoo, ive never seen him away from Timbaland's side and why would you when you have the voice of a cartoon character.
Beep Beep - Not amazing but it gives you an idea of what you have let yourself in for, be ready to open your mind and accept Feel It - Ok again not great but by this time you get used to the types of lyrics youre gonna be hit with, which to be honest are not great but Tims not about the lyrics. Up Jumps The Boogie - This track features Aaliyah & Missy Elliott and is the first good instalment on the album. Again beats are way out leftfield but its catchy and sticks in your head. A great contribution by aaliyah Clock Strikes - Click on past this, the remix is top 15 Mins After The Hour - I dont really know how to comment on this! Its just arrnaged a bit poorly Love To Love You (Remix) - BIt strange for a remix to come on before the original but when you listen to it you can tell why. Loved by the radio stations and the djs for its dark beats, the track takes you on a head bopping ride. Glorious. Features Shaunta Mongomery and Playa Love To Love You - Completly different from the remix, again feature Playa but the background takes more of a latin slant and looks to get people doing some salsa. Nowhere near the remix Smoke In The Air - What a great chorus this is has. Performed by Playa. Its worth battling your way through cartoon Magoo to get yourself to it. Observing My Style - Just weird, lost me there Written Rhymes - Again not wonderful but some are are bit wayward on this album Deep In Your Memory - Same as the previous two, at this point i start to wonder if its all downhill from here. Clock Strikes - Saved. Quality. Sample of knightrider is always gonna be a hit! I think its better than Busta Rhymes 'Fire It Up' but it was never released. It should have been a massive club hit but i dont think anybody knew about it! Man Undercover - Ok we've slowed it down a bit now and its a nice change of pace. The track features Aaliyah singing mainly with Missy Elliott helping out, its basically an Aaliyah track and a good one at that, its gonna be a good end to the album Joy - performed by Ginuwine and Playa this is a top track. Again slow in tempo but hits all the right notes. Up Jumps the Boogie (Remix) - Average end to an album that has no middle. Its up and down, experimental and engaging.
For the price it is probably worth it, i got mine imported over 10 years ago! Live the dream.
