that follows acclaimed scores forGladiator(with Hans Zimmer andThe Insider(with Pieter Bourke). Those hoping for another glimpse into ecstasy through Gerrard's magnificent voice will be disappointed. This score to the New Zealand-set film relies more on texture and mood, with Gerrard's voice planted in a slowly undulating drift of synthesizers and sustained guitar lines. It's not until "Biking Home" that you might even recognise Gerrard's voice in this quietly joyful mood piece. She only gives herself full, if understated, voice on the symphonic closing track "Go Forward" which echoesGladiator's "Now We Are Free", but with Maori chanting. Though there is some compelling music onWhale Rider, much of it sounds bereft without the accompanying images.--John Diliberto, Amazon.com

Advantages: it is good entertaining enough educational way film Disadvantages: it is not too commercial
Niki Caro director of "WhaleRider," does well. She was able to convince the Ngati Konohi Maori tribe, that she should be the one to adapt Maori book to the screen, despite the fact that she's a "pakeha" (a New Zealander of European descent). I’m not sure what "WhaleRider" suppose to be, an anthropological/sociological study of the Maori people or the universal story of female empowerment in traditional male society. Indeed, the book's author, Witi Ihimaera, said he wrote "WhaleRider" as a modern retelling of a Maori legend -- in response to his daughter's complaining about the boy always being the hero. Main protagonist is Pai a Maori girl of 13 whom feels that her destiny is to become the leader of her Maori tribe, a whalerider in order to please her grandfather. She’s not allowed learning warrior skills thought by her ...
Advantages: Excellent Movie Sountrack. Disadvantages: None!
memories of this movie and of the time it was released in the charts to me and I just love recalling it all. This track was released in 1985 and reached number 15 in the billboard charts. The music video to accompany this love song was taken from clips of the St Elmo's Fire movie also. This is an excellent track, that?s an all time favourite to me.
Overall Opinion Of St Elmo's Fire Soundtrack.
Well as you have probably gathered from reading this review, I really love this soundtrack a lot. I have had this original one for over twenty years. I first had it on cassette and then upgraded it to CD. It really looks a bit tatty on it, but that?s because it has been played a lot by me over the years, as I love it so much. This CD was one of the first movie soundtracks that really caught my attention because of the great meanings all the songs ...
Advantages: Brings back all the best bits of the film. Disadvantages: None that I know.
WOW! I love the film, and this soundtrack is absolutely amazing as well. Throughout the soundtrack I just want to get up and dance - and sometimes I do... LOL.
It's the whole standing in front of a mirror with the hairbrush CD. If you're a big fan of the film like me, then this is the perfect CD as you know all of the words off by heart without even realising it!
Everyone loves Patrick Swayze, and he sings track 3 (She's Like The Wind). It gives me goosebumps every time!
What makes this soundtrack even better is the price. For less than a fiver there's all the fun of the film! It'll get you dancing before you know it! Although you'll wish you were dancing with Patrick rather than on your own. LOL. ...
