'Beautiful Day' was released in two different cd formats; CD 1 containing 'Beautiful Day', 'BarRoom Jury' and 'All Your Dreams', and CD 2 which contains three other tracks along with the title track; 'Price of Love', 'Hang on to your Ego' and 'Germfree Adolescence'.
'Beautiful Day' is probably The Levellers most well known track (it was featured on an advertisement for Weight Watchers), an uplifting song blending elements of folk and rock with an essentially poppy refrain - anyone who was into music in the late nineties is sure to be able to sing along to the catchy chorus 'What a beautiful day, hey hey, what a beautiful day, nothing is impossible in my all powerful mind....' This song is very simple, but other works of The Levellers include lyrics that convey political anxieties and their own political opinions, and unlike in the case of many bands the lyrics are all clearly audible so really enter your consciousness, making the music of The Levellers about far more than a jaunty tune.
Beautiful Day contains both folky fiddle playing and a punky element to get the crowds jumping along unsure whether to bang their heads or launch into an Irish jig. For me, Beautiful Day is a song that always makes me think of a summer day with the sun high in the cloudless sky, and the scent of green green grass..... Ah,roll on July! Beautiful Day is cheery, happy and a slice of addicted pure pop pleasure.
For anyone new to The Levellers I recommend 'One Way of Life', a greatest hits album released in 2002 containing the band's singles from '90-'98, and a great introduction to a band that straddles genres to produce a unique and irresistible sound. I will review the album in depth at a later date but thought I would start with a brief review of the single for now in order to alert any Levellers virgins out there to a great band and a song that promises a guaranteed high.

Hi, the 1st track is great, "Bar Room Jury" okay, some NMA-sound in it (in the voice) ... 3rd: "Jesus, Mother, Mary, God, All Of You, Who Cliam To Know The Soul, What’s Your View ?" What a sentence in the 3rd song, but not so good than the other ones ... Many regards, Sven (Zoobremia äh Zooleveller)
