Advantages: Some mature pop ballads Disadvantages: Can get a little samey
down to a slight twinkle in the eye you can hear in some of the lyrics. It?s nothing more than another guitar led pop ballad, but the difference in the vocals makes it sound completely different, even though it?s really just the same thing over again.
We're back on more familiar ground with ?Like I Never Loved You At All?, as once more you?re faced with a guitar led pop ballad. This one does have that extra bit about it with the string section that makes it somehow that little bit more special and it?s a more enjoyable track than ?Beautiful World?.
With the bass line and guitar, ?Shine? is already a more interesting track before the vocals ever get going. Mark Owen takes the vocals again, but the song has a kind of Beatles influence and a certain showmanship that always makes me wonder if it was written when there was a chance Robbie ...
Advantages: Lots of stock Disadvantages: The repair shop isn't cheap
I see trees of green........ red roses too
I see em bloom..... for me and for you
And I think to myself.... what a wonderfulworld.
I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself ....shit! me computers bust I?ll have to go to PC world..
PC world I think they?re great!
If your like me and you don?t know THAT much about computers, but use one quite a lot, sooner or later it?s going to go wrong. It?s at this point that your going to have to look for someone to fix it.
There are an abundance of small adds, in my local newspaper, and probably yours as well, but if you don?t trust one of these one man bands to come round to your house, without any kind of personal recommendation , you are going to have to look elsewhere for your knight in shining armour.
PC world ...
Advantages: Willie's sweet voice and stinging guitar Disadvantages: It's not twice as long
The music: clean, uncluttered introspective. The songs: conveying the stark, sere, loneness of the singer. It's been called "blue collar blues" and I'd call it that, too, more than I'd call it country music. Only three of the songs are new, written in the 1990s, the rest are refashioned from the 1960s, and the 30 years in between scarcely matter. The songs were chosen and pieced together to tell the story of obssessive love or convey the concept of domestic abuse, whichever way you want to see it. And they do succeed in working together. They succeed in taking hold of your heart and grabbing onto it hard.
Somehow, in WillieNelson's mature voice, the older songs take on a new edge and freshness. Emmy Lou Harris's background voice deepens the poignancy and works sweetly with Willie's. Hers is the ghostly voice of the victim and ...

Album Notes
Willie Nelson was always too complex an artist to be pigeonholed by a tag like country singer, or even country songwriter. His style incorporates elements of jazz, folk, blues, R&B and rock & roll as well. Nowhere was his musical versatility more apparent than on the series of albums he recorded that featured his versions of pop standards. The most aesthetically and commerically successful of these is undoubtedly STARDUST, but WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD also makes a convicing case for Nelson as pop balladeer. Nelson's craggy, emotive voice is the kind of instrument many cabaret singer would kill for. It's expressiveness enables him to breathe life into whatever he sings, an ability that served him in good stead throughout every phase of his career. Here, tackling standards like "Spanish Eyes" (a duet with Julio Iglesias), "To Each His Own" and the Johnny Mercer classic "Ac-cen-tchu-ate the Positive," he sounds perfectly at ease, delivering the lyrics with comfort and authority.
