Oh What a Night

Advantages: Entertaining and Imaginitive
Disadvantages: Slightly underused sub plots

Christmas period I rushed to see it. In recent years I have become a little weary of the sorts of films which have been made for the younger viewer. Most of them have either had a boring unimaginative plot or been CGI animations which have a few jokes which will appeal to an older audience, but none of them have been really entertaining or original. That is until "Night at the Museum" came along, not that it is amazingly original, but it is the fact that it fuels your imagination whilst also making you laugh which ticks the boxes for me. The main concept behind the film of statues and little figures coming to life is something of everyone's childhood fantasy where we believed that are toys had a life of their own. What "Night at the Museum" does is it takes it one step further and puts it into the situation of a museum where we get to watch ...

Oh what a night!

Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: Childish (but what else would you expect?)

the museum into danger. Larry is forced to try and get the exhibits to stop fighting each other and work together to overcome the security guards. Will he be successful? And will he make his son proud of him? I pretty much knew what to expect from this film, having read a number of reviews and because I'm familiar with Ben Stiller's brand of slapstick comedy. As Larry, Stiller has the comic timing and face pulling off pat - he has done it in so many other films in exactly the same way. Despite this, he yet again manages to pull the role off. I really would have expected to be fed up with him by now, but I have to admit he is good at what he does and I found myself laughing again and again as he hammed his way through the film.
