One of the best albums I have heard in years, I first heard it from when I went to uni to visit my sister, after a rough night she slapped the CD in and for the rest of the night we talked from dusk till dawn. I still had the funky beats in my head and I could remember the hard-hitting lyrics of ‘Cast no shadow’, ‘Champagne Supernova’ and ‘Wonderwall’. I bought the album as soon as I got home and left it going all night leaving an imprint of some of the best song from oasis. My original thoughts on Oasis was a bunch of Manchester winkers but their lyrics are the most touching I have ever heard, better than any rap artist, their musical content better than all pop artist/bands in the universe, they have more soul than the whole of the black soul singers in the world past, present and future. They could act like absolute dicks but after listening to ‘Some might say’, ‘Hey Now!’ and ‘Morning Glory’ no one can dispute that oasis have a lot more talent than appearance.
Hello
The first song on the album
is a great intro to an amazing line up, it has remember able lines but it is co-written with Gary Glitter which you can tell but it has a more rocky vibe than a pop (kiddie fiddler) sound. The voice is awful but that is the point of it, Bob Dylan’s vocals are the worst I have heard but they make the point more real, it makes the point easier to hear.
Roll With It
A good stab at the sublime, but it misses something that the others seem to have, it has an edge and a feel to it but nothing makes it stand out from the rest of the songs on the album
Wonderwall
Who in the UK hasn’t heard this song; it could have been released by itself on an album full of sound checks and yet it still would of topped the chart. It is a sweet love song with a great beat, guitar, violins and whatever instruments used in this song where used to there greatest potential. This song in my mind is a close contender to reach the top of the best songs ever but Green Days ‘Good Riddance’ in my mind will always rule the world
Don’t look back in anger
With a kind of John Lennon ‘Imagine’ intro and kind of theme to it, this song rightfully deserves the rep that it has, the video if anyone’s seen it is quite crap but nothing could take this song down apart from a large wrestler named ‘THE BULK’ but that isn’t very likely now is it. ‘But don’t look back in anger I heard you say’ the words that took Oasis to the top of the world.
Hey Now!
One of two of the unsung hero’s of this album, it has been over shadowed by the single release’s off the album but this song is a great background chilling song. What I mean about that is it doesn’t stop a conversation as soon as it comes on, it isn’t too loud, it isn’t too long and it even features some screwed up funky lyrics that have more metaphors than a brothel has whores. (A sound check comes between these two songs but I don’t think I need to talk about them)
Some Might Say
‘Well you know what some might say’, yeah that this song couldn’t be more like a poem of sorrow, than a rock anthem that inspired a huge amount of people to turn to Oasis. ENOUGH SAID.
Cast No Shadow
A song of few words but the words could kill a giant, the other unsung hero off the album, which has meaning, a badass guitar and enough rock reputation behind it too bring down ‘The Incredible Hulk’. The song has a little back up singing that sounds like it could have been taken from a Beatles record.
She’s Electric
A poem that could put Simon Armitage in his place, with lyrics sounding a story and with a chilled out sound, the song is more than the album and could have been a valuable asset on there newest album which bombed quite badly.
Morning Glory
With the sound of a helicopter the sound of a generation was born, the title track lives up to its name. If this song was re-release I bet that S club 7, all stars and Hear’ Say would crap their pants and wish that their job was safe (HA, Hear’ Says job’s safe my arse). Another <Untitled> track put between these great songs
Champagne Supernova
This song is so special to me that I think it deserves me writing out the lyrics of the first chorus just to make you feel better about your day
How many special people change How many lives are living strange Where were you while we were getting high? Slowly walking down the hall Faster than a cannon ball Where were you while we were getting high?
This song is 7:30 and every second of it is worth listening too, it has all the trademarks of being more historic than Nirvana’s ‘Smells like teen sprit’ (I think ‘Teen Sprit’ is over rated though).
This album is so strong that Rocky Balboa poo’s his pants at the mere mention of the word Champagne let alone Supernova, at weddings the poor boy rushes to the toilets every 5 minutes. (If you don’t know who Rocky Balboa is then HA I am not going to tell ya now go on stop reading and rate my performance…………..GO ON I SAID STOP READING RATE ME YOU PRUNE)

Advantages: Modern classic the likes of which have seldom been seen in British music Disadvantages: Set an impossibly high standard for the band's future albums to aspire to
Advantages: The album has good songs and very interesting lyrics, also the album has an atractive cover. Disadvantages: This is not what you would usually expect from Oasis
