What's The Story Morning Glory is one of the best albums Ive heard.
It kicks off with 'Hello" borrowing a Gary Glitter riff as an intro but then changes to a high energy bouncy roock/pop piece of Genius. Lyrics are average but music & Liam Gallagher make this song. Then comes Roll With It, a great track with much better lyrics sush as "You gotta be who you be if your coming with me." Somewhat similar to 'Hello." Then one of th highlights of the album. "Wonderwall", a timeless classic with beautiful music & the all to familar vocals of Liam. "Don't Look Back In Anger" is another highlight. It is very Beatles like & is a totally different Oasis to the 2 opening tracks. Liam changes his voice to sound similar to Paul McCartney but it also is distinctivly Liam. The album continues to deliver with 'Hey Now'. A blend of The Beatles & the Sex Pistols makes a brilliant song. Slow then fast. Soft then Loud, a brilliant song. Then comes the amazing "Some Might Say" which is definatley Oasis at their best. Very soulful lyrics & great music mixed with Liams awesome vocals lead to an extraordinary track. There is a momentary dip, although not a very big one, with Cast No Shadow. It is a bit monotone compared to the other tracks: the chorus is pretty much the same tone & music as the verses but still sounds very good.
She's Electric is at number 9 & this song sounds very similar to the opening 2 tracks although these lyrics are pretty meaningless (if you don't beleive me: "She's gotta brother, we dont get on with each other, But I quite faancy her mother & I think she likes me too." The title track is the next in line & a very fast track which you cant sit down to. A song about drgs but it is everything Oasis is. A blend of the Beatles & the Sex Pistols to create a sound uniquley Oasis. Then Champagne Supernova. They left the best til last on this album. This 7 & a half minute song is truly awesome. Liams vocals are spot on, the lyric are beautiful ("someday you will find me caught benath the landside, in a champagne supernova in the sky") Noel's guitar solos are breath taking. It gives you the feeling of cascading the builds up dramatically & flows again.
