I recently took it upon myself to be a naughty girl and download the new Wheatus album off limewire/Gnutella. After all, everyone does it these days and whilst my mother would say, "two wrongs don't make a right" I'm a bit broke then what Wheatus probably are at the moment. So before I start my waffling here is my opinion on the Wheatus album!

Most people have probably bought this album due to the massive hit "teenage dirtbag". I loved the comical lyrics in that song and this album really did not fail to provide me with more laughs. Here is a track list from the album with my favourite lyrics from each song and a little review:

1. **TRUFFLES**
"You, you think yer such a bad ass
You think yer such a rough neck
Well I saw you outside eating truffles with yer mom on the patio"

REVIEW: This song is quite slow starting but once it gets into the lyrics I couldn't help but look at my computer with a baffled look on my face. It is a nice easy going song with a good beat, Shame it's only 2 mins 35 secs long. Great guitar playing in here but the lyrics make no sense at all and I get the feeling this was recorded to fill the album up.

2. **SUNSHINE**
"There's a rocket I built;
It's under my kilt;
It's coming to blow you away."

REVIEW: I can see a bit of a pattern emerging here with the songs. They all sound slightly familiar but in a good way. This song is catchy and you have to be careful not to sing the lyric in front of your parents :)

3. **TEENAGE DIRTBAG**
"And oh how she rocks
In Keds and tube socks."

REVIEW: I love this song so much :) A great start and a well deserved chart positioning here in the UK. I can just really chill listening to this song because it has such a nice vibe to it. I'm sure you don’t need much of a review on this song because I don't think there is anyone on this earth who hasn't heard it!

4. **A LITTLE RESPECT**
"And if I should falter, would you open your arms out to me?
We can make love not war, and live in peace with our hearts"

REVIEW: This actually doesn't have any comical lyrics and is a lovely well written song. The words are very meaningful and sung lovely by Wheatus. I like this song because it is refreshing and although it is rather sappy, still remains cool!

5. **HUMP 'EM 'N DUMP 'EM**
"The newspaper says to get bent; Man I'd like to say that to the President
He got the L. in the House, I guess he already did
She looks like she finished here fat
She then turned around and ate my kitty cat
She coughed up a hair ball or two and laughed her way to the bank"

REVIEW: This is one to play in the car whilst driving fast :) Back to the lyrics again which I have realised have actually got a meaning despite making me laugh so much. I personally don't like this song because it is too harsh on the ears. The singing is shouted and there are plenty of guitar thrashing going on!

6. **LEROY**
"He's just a pimp with a limp and some Vaseline
He told me to "Look, over there!" and stole my nectarine"

REVIEW: This is starting to sound like Wheatus are trying a bit too desperately to be cool. Good guitar bass and you can really hear the drum beats in this. Some strange harmonicas too! This is a nice song but like the others has a mad guitar part for the chorus.

7. **HEY, MR. BROWN**
"If I don't call you back your head spins
If I told you what I think you'd shit your linens"

REVIEW: WOW my god heavy electric guitar playing here. Wheatus playing the hard man rock band here! This is a really fast upbeat song which not surprisingly only last 2 minutes 10 secs. This is quite nice to listen to but a little repetitive after a while. I find this is one of my least favourite tracks.

8. **LOVE IS A MUTT FROM HELL**
"She takes advantage of me! She takes advantage of me!
She even knows when I pee! I think eventually she'll make a meal out of me."

REVIEW: By the time I have heard this song I’m really grooving away. O.K. So they all sound the same but I think the tunes are really well played and a great new refreshing style of music. This song reminds me of teenage dirtbag because it has a laid back verse that tells the story then a great upbeat soft chorus.

9. **PUNK ASSED BITCH**
"You open up your mouth-a, amazed at what comes out-a it’s just a testimony
That you're full of bologna, that you're a stupid shit-ass, a meathead, guido, pass-gas
That you have got no class, no style, no social skills, no comprehension"

REVIEW: This is one that I keep singing in front of my parents. It’s a bit like a soft Offspring song. When I first heard it I was amazed because it's so different! Although this one is fast paced it’s so well played and you can really hear every little individual instrument in there.

10.**WANNABE GANGSTAR**
"But you I'm lookin' snappy, I'm nappy, I'm crappy, got jimmy hats from pappy
So now I'm trigger happy
(Girl did he just rhyme 'crappy' with 'happy'?)"

REVIEW: This is really different. So slow and creepy. Its as if the bass and tempo match with the words. A nice low bass and relaxing tempo. This is rather strange because there are no guitars or drums playing at full beat. It remains chilled all the way through and is actually quite a good, if not a bit creepy, song.

So there you go, I promised not to waffle on but that's me isn't it. Despite reading some bad reviews I believe Wheatus have a gem of an album here. There are a few songs that I can really get into and believe that there could be some great chart toppers on this album. For a first major album I really enjoyed listening to this because everything was so well played and you really could relax and appreciate the music. The lyrics were so funny and the way in which they were song really bought meaning to the words. After listening to the album you feel as though the words relate to Wheatus and it make you think you know them personally (or is that just me being a weirdo?!).

I'd recommend that people buy, download, or whatever other resources there are available to get this album. It's amazing in my eyes and a refreshing wave of music that I have been waiting for, for a long time!
