Advantages: Makes you realise just how cool Blues can be Disadvantages: The sound quality though not bad might put some people used to 'polish' off
...fashioned Blues tension. Straight away with I've a Right to Love my Woman (can you get much more Blues titled than that?) and especially Tell Me What's Inside of You, which really pulls out all the stops with Buddy wrenching out long Bluesy riffs. It's exquisite Blues, both slow burning and an absolute delight, especially whenBuddy allows himself free reign to let go.
We do get a traditional Blues standard in the always gorgeous The Things That I Used To Do, and Buddy's version here matches late lamented Freddie King's version. Being pretty traditional the song always requires strong vocals. King could do it and Buddy proves that he can too. Advantages: A few nice beats and lines here and there Disadvantages: The LP is a Horrendous, One-Dimensional Disease
..." and "South Side Story" are the same exact thing as everything else ever spat by this guy. More gunplay. More false stories about being a bad-ass, etc etc. It's unbelievably tiring. ...Apart from this CD being from one of the greatest 50's performers of all time who tragically past on way before his time along with other stars whoose talents like Buddy's were not at that time totally released as had he had the chance then record sales would have boomed.
He was a household name and to many even in 2005 remains one of the most reknown artists of this genre of music.
Whenyou listen to this CD it makes you think back to the era when playing your guitar in a friends garage was what it was all about and you can picture whenyou close your eyes being there accross the road watching and listening to the raw beat and riffs(guitar solos) as they were performed with out any enhancing like you get with todays music.
This CD has his most well known hits and songs on and is perfect for those relaxing evenings at home...
