Advantages: Hearing what then were the guitar legends of the future Disadvantages: None
...The band to start all bands...This album contains the best from the Yardbirds throughout time including tracks with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck when they were with the band. The songs which stand out are ultimately FOR YOUR LOVE, HEART FULL OF SOUL, EVIL HEARTED YOU, SHAPES OF THINGS, THE TRAIN KEPT A-ROLLIN', AIN'T GOT YOU AND SMOKESTACK LIGHTNING but loads more are included on this double album set. Many bands have been influenced by this British Premier R&B rock band yet they covered their fair share of great artists themselves. Blues legend tracks - John Lee Hooker's BOOM BOOM and Jimmy Reed's BABY WHATS WRONG are also included. This is a great way to hear what ultimately is the best of the Yardbirds....

Advantages: The classic hits and some top notch album tracks Disadvantages: The showbiz and MOR cover versions
...To zoom in on The Supremes chart-topping success in 1964, Tamla Motown records (which they had been signed to since January 1961) released an accompanying album named after their first ever No.1 hit Where Did Our Love go. The swirling, latin-inspired, mellow arrangements on the divine A Breath Taking Guy had been penned by the genius song writing skills of Smokey Robinson (who Bob Dylan once described as "the greatest living poet"). The track featured a warm, sensual and passionate vocal performance from The Supremes stunning lead...

Advantages: Better than 'Fat of the land', every track superb Disadvantages: Not quite as groundbreaking as '...Jilted Generation'
...I was going to take my time, but i am bursting to tell all about this incredible album. After the nonsensical 'Baby's got a temper', Liam Howlett wisely scrapped a planned album, and took his time in concocting something fresh.
Keith Flint had his own band now, so he didn't need the spotlight as much, and was becoming a parody of himself. Liam wisely erased his vocal influence, as well as the less-irritating Maxim.
Going back to the drawing board, Howlett got back on his computer, collaborated with the most credible hip-hop influences, and discovered the startling vocal talent of 'Natural Born Killers' actress Juliette Lewis. Mixing everything that made 'The fat of the land' great (punk attitude, aggressive rapping/vocals, thumping drums), with a throwback 'eighties' vibe and fuzzy basslines, Howlett pulled this gem out of the bag...
