This album heralds the birth of David Grey into mainstream music; I am of course talking about the amazing white ladder. For years David Grey has been part of the music industry in America, even though he is a native of our own sunny shores. So just like the British colonials of yester year that they sent back, he returned to our lives, and started to immediately spread some sunshine into our otherwise, dull lives.
I can still remember the first time I heard one of his songs. It was while I was shopping, and amongst the usual hideous background music, I heard this brilliant song and immediately wanted a copy. The only problem being that I didn’t know the title of the song, or who sang it, big problem I hear you all say, until lady luck popped her head around my door for the second time in a week.
Whilst with a young lady, she suggested that we listen to the new David Grey album, me with my simple mind and thought patterns thought, who’s he? Bet it’s a girly album and a lode of crap. However she managed to persuade me to listen and, for that I will be eternally grateful.
Probably the only song that anybody will have heard of will be ‘Babylon’, which is a really good slow song and shot him to fame in this country. It has a brilliant catchy beat and demands that you pull the nearest sexy lady close and dance slow until he’s finished brightening up your life.
The actual album contains 10 songs, all equally as good as the others, they are; 1.Please Forgive Me 2. Babylon 3. My Oh My 4. We’re Not Right 5. Nightblindness 6. Silver Lining 7. White Ladder 8. This Years Love 9. Sail Away 10. Say Hello Wave Goodbye
The latest song to be released from the album is ‘This years love’, which is in a very similar style to ‘Babylon’, and demands the same response. In recent months David Grey has received much deserved coverage on national radio stations, and TV programmes such as Radio 1 and Top Of The Pops. He has also received brilliant reviews from quality publications in music, such as ‘Melody Maker’, who described the album as ‘glorious’.
Although I do agree he is not really the most charismatic of performers, he does produce some amazing music, that is easy to listen to, and suitable for all occasions, especially to woo the young ladies.
Go out there people and enjoy, and that’s an order!

Advantages: Wide range of music; some truly great tracks; consistently high quality Disadvantages: Very few, perhaps only that it is very slighty shorter than previous albums
