I first really listened to David Gray when Babylon was released in the UK. After listening to the album by borrowing it from friends I realised the sheer quality of this album. It wasn't long before I bought it.
The album contains ten tracks as well as a hidden track. The main tracks are:
1. Please forgive me 2. Babylon 3. My oh my 4. We're not right 5. Nightblindness 6. Silver lining 7. White ladder 8. This year's love 9. Sail away 10. Say hello wave goodbye
The hidden track "Can't get through?" can't be found on every copy of the CD, due to different production versions for different countries but check yours by rewinding 2 minutes and one second after the first track. Some CD players won't let you rewind after the first track, but keep trying on different CD players and you'll find it eventually.
The thing that struck me about this album, and indeed all David Gray's music is the way that he seems to incorporate a heartfelt optimism, yet paints an interesting and exciting picture. David Gray was an art graduate and his artistic skills obviously don't stop at the canvas. There are some brilliant tracks on this album, my favorites being the first two mixing mellow sounds with a fast beat to produce something truly unique. My other favorites have to be track 8, which excellently complements the album with rich undertones mixed with a brilliant melody. Track 10 I think ends the album with an optimistic finish as well as leaving you dying for more. This is the sort of album that suits any mood. If you’re happy it only adds to it. If your sad it perks you up and if you want to wallow in self-pity it can provide a mood for that to. This is also (rarely) an album that those from young kids to the older generation.
This is undoubtedly a great album from a very talented artist. The sort of music you just feel great about and can't wait to sit down and listen to.
Thanks for reading! Ouwabybob.

Advantages: Wide range of music; some truly great tracks; consistently high quality Disadvantages: Very few, perhaps only that it is very slighty shorter than previous albums
