Beverley Knight is a great singer from the UK who is now on her second album 'Who I Am' . She is an R'n'B artist and a very good one. She has won a MOBO award and will continue to be successful for a while.
1.GET UP!-This was the first single released from this album. A brilliant song with a fast rhythm, great to dance to and the singing really fits well. The music is quite simple but it makes an excellent song. This did well in the charts, not sure of the position but I really like this. The music is repetitive but that doesn't make the music boring and this could either be the best song on the album to some or the start of many good songs.
2.SHOULDA WOULDA COULDA-This is a more relaxed song the music mostly just a guitar and the video fits the song well. It's her driving along in a car singing this song and it shows her relaxing. I like Beverley's voice in this song it's quite slow but still strong through the music. This was also another single from this album and a good choice of a single to.
3.SHAPE OF YOU-This has a good beat and the singing is quite low but still good. This is a ballad though and nothing exciting. I sometimes listen to it but don't think it is her best song.
4.FALLEN SOLDIER-This is another ballad, I think this is when too many are put together and there should be an upbeat song between them. The only sound aparat from Beverley's voice is the guitar strumming. This is ok but I prefer a song with lots of music in it and this is too simple.
5.BEAUTIFUL CONTRADICTION-It starts off with a good beat and the some music adds to the beat and then singing begins. I think this is a nice calm song with nice music and peaceful singing. This is a duet with musiq soulchild and at some parts this really shows off her voice at it's powerful points.
6.HURRICANE JANE-This starts right away with the singing and music. It has a nice sound and a good pace to it. The only thing is this is a nice relaxed song like the majority of this album but there is not much more than the repetitive pace going through it and I fel it could change a little to make it more exciting.
7.SAME (AS I EVER WAS)-This is finally a bit more upbeat, with a good rhythm and the singing is good. This is one of the few songs anyone could actually dance to. A great rhythm and Beverley's voice sounds different in this song from others. That's the good thing with her singing she always shows a different part of her singing voice through her music.
8.WHATEVER'S CLEVER-This starts very quickly and lots of music in this singing with backing singers. The music has a good beat and the music is different sounding like the music is being mixed. I like this song it has a good sound and it's different one of the most powerful sounding songs on the
9.AMBITION( IT ALL COMES 2 U)-This has a nice sound to it and a nice ballad . It begins with just the beat but then the music accompanies it to make a nice sound. The singing is good in this and it really works well with the music.
10.BESTSELLER MYSTERS-This starts differently from her usual music style beginning with an introduction from an electric guitar. This is a sort of blues style song and it is a great song to show off her voice and talent at the near end of this album. At the end of the album her voice gets really powerful backed with singers and it is really loud the singing.
11.GOLD-Based mainly on her voice and a piano this is a lovely ballad. There is nothing much to say about this song. As the song nearly ends her voice seems to get more stronger and then it calms down as it ends.
WHO I AM-This is an a cappella song to show off her vocals.
SHOULD WOULDA COULDA MIX-This is a nice mix and the music is a bit more dull than the original but the singing sounds the same.
A great album with a few songs that are not up to her best standard. Shows off her excellent voice and her music style is brilliant also. I would recommend this to all lovers of R'n'B. I will definitely buy her next album
