I must own up to this, ive never even seen this film, or seen a trailor, i purely bought the cd because it had Timbaland and Missy Elliott all over it. Released in 98, i was well into my r&b back then, still am now but the only difference is i wouldnt splash out 15 of my hard earned pounds on a cd where id only heard one song. I have a mortgage now! But and its a big but, what a 15 pounds that was. Love this album!
Why Do Fools Fall In Love - Gina Thompson & Mocha. An up to date version of the classic, not sure who sang it originally but you'll know it once you hear it. Timbaland production and a smart rap from Mocha at the end brings this into the 90s! Get On The Bus - Destinys Child. Timbaland production and a track released fom the writings on the wall album they released. Hard beats, big bass, sweet voices. Its a good mixture, his rap is not needed but good tune none the less He Be Back - Coko (from SWV) & Missy Elliott. A Missy Elliott production doesnt save this one, a poor track only highlighted by its poor gramma! No Fool No More - En Vogue. Slow jam which is a good addition to the album. The start was quite harsh, ive been told im a fool for falling in love and then told to get on the bus so its a nice break. Relaxing with your sweetheart tune. Get Contact - Missy Elliott & Busta Rhymes. Wow, how different is this! A Timbaland production and it goes a bit haywire but in a good way. A complete contrast from the last tune but a real head bopper, i think move forward 10 years and you would probably only get something like this from pharrell. Five Minutes - Lil Mo & Missy Elliott. A Missy production that lasts exactly 5 minutes, lucky that. This track continnues with the 'out there' theme of the last one and just as good. SIngle released, not sure how well it did though I Want You Back - Mel B. What. 'I got many flows from overseas' in a northern accent just cracks me up everytime. To be honest this isnt as bad as everyone said it was when it was released. The video was quite cool and the production (missy again) is superb, its just that... its Mel B. About You - Mista. Another Missy production turns this average track into a good one. Bobby Valentino was in this group before he went solo. Love Is For Fools - Mint Condition. No Timbaland or Missy on this one, just genuinly good singers who havent had the credit they deserve. A nice track to chill out to Without You - Nicole. It had to come sometime, probably the worst track on the album, slow tempo is fine but Nicole's winey voice gets on your nerves after a while and the arrangement doesnt sound the best. Flick on past this Splash - Next. Taken from Next's album Nextasy, this in inuendo all the way. You pay attention to everything he sings and chuckling to yourself but in a naughty school boy kinda way! What the Dealio - Total & Missy Elliott. Ok back to the lively tracks, Timbaland production brings back the hard bass and hard beats for Totals sweet lead singer sound. Good track Crazy Love - Envyi & Baby Sham. Suprisingly good this one, doesnt start off too fantastic but gathers pace as you go through. Plus her voice gets better, which is weird. Once you hit the chorus you can totally sit back releaved that you didnt waste those few seconds listening to a dud! Keep A Knockin - Little Richard. Something from the film i guess but a 60s showcase track from an old rocker.
This was well worth the money back in 98 so its doubly worth it now. Get on board with Timbaland and Missy's early productions and you can totally understand the reputation they have in the business. I believe without them knowing this went a long way to their success
