this was the highest chart single the almighty had a bit too commercial for my liking but all in all not a bad song
lifeblood ,instinct and meathook all continue where the previous ends and are almost like a mini concept album in amongst the other tracks
eye to eye
a final ear bashing, this song grabs you by the throat and drags you backwards through a hedge before placing you nicely back on your feet unscathed a great ending to a great album
The Almighty were a breath of fresh air when they first appeared on the glasgow rock scene , wild and wonderful,free n easy were early album crowd pleasers and with a cult fan base quickly were signed and released wild and wonderful as a single .

Advantages: Good selection Disadvantages: As with all compilations there are some filler tracks

Some surprise inclusions are "Makes Me Wonder" by Maroon 5 and "Dakota" by The Stereophonics. I don't say this because I dislike them, in fact I saw them both live in November and thought they were fab, but I am sure these songs would not have made it onto many people's Top 20 of 2008. The same goes for tracks from Paolo Nuttini and Amy MacDonald. With the older tracks, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find "The Reason" by Hoobastank included. This is a track evokes so much emotion in me, the lyrics always get me.
On the back of that, the older, more classic tracks are really my favourite part of the CD. Shed Seven's"Chasing Rainbows" is a required listen. New Radicals "Get What You Give" never seems to age, and always makes me sing along. I actually let out a whoop when I realised that "Drops Of Jupiter" by Train...

Advantages: Some great songs Disadvantages: Not a true career retrospective
...A quick survey of my CD collection betrays my taste in Blondie, the Strokes, REM, Talking Heads, Scissor Sisters, Duran Duran, the Ramones, Franz Ferdinand and others. Something of an eclectic mix already in that bunch, but it would be safe to argue that at least the above artists all safely fit into the typical 'rock' category. Well, maybe not Duran Duran, but there we go (and quit the sniggering at the back, Duran Duran are quality, quality I tell you!). Nestled among these various albums (the number of which are getting quite out of hand but there we go, what can you do when you have such fine taste in music?) are a few little gems by one of soul's greatest singers and one of the best and most under-rated songwriters of all time, Mr. Stevie Wonder.
