Advantages: Summer beats and witty lyrics Disadvantages: The 'Mockney' vocals can be a bit irritating
...Lily Allen is the daughter on comedian Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. She has had small parts in films her mother has produced, notably Elizabeth with Cate Blanchett where she played a Lady in Waiting. 21 year old Lily was signed to Parlaphone late last year, in response to her popular My Space music profile (see link below). It has been widely reported that she was being expelled from a dozen or so different schools as well as experimenting with drugs in her teens, although it doesn't seem to have done her any harm, as she has managed to produce a number one single with her debut single, and a top five album. The album, 'Alright, Still' refers to a slang saying of her brother's which means 'Cool'.
The first track on the CD is the number one single Smile and has some very interesting lyrics and a Dance Hall...

Advantages: Catchy Music and Lyrics Disadvantages: Immature Writing
...Lily Allen made leaped onto the music scene last year with this album Alright Still. Making herself famous for her girly/chav dress sense, apparently catchy tunes, and her extreme honestness.
Lily Allen seems immature and will probably appeal alot more to teenager girls then to anybody else. This is clearly reflected by the music and lyrics. Lily writes about many a topics which all seem to reflect her honest attitude. Famous for slagging off other artists that are better at what they do definetly more talented and more famous such as Amy Winehouse and Madonna. Lily Allen does appear to be a little girl thinking she is better than she actually is. Nevertheless the album is still OK and many of the songs are good.
Track 1 - Smile
This is a very summery and happy song which is probably reflected in the title. If you have heard...

Advantages: Phrases in songs that you can relate to. Disadvantages: All tracks are alike
...I walked on into Woolworths a few weeks ago, looking for a different sound to play in my car, for when I drive back and forth to work, when I stumbled across this album,,, for the small price of just £5.
I took it straight up to the counter, and on the way home, played it in my car.
I suppose the sound and style of Lily Allen is a bit like Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash, only a bit more common. The types of words and phrases that are on the tracks sound like a bunch of 20 year olds stumbling out of a club blind drunk, like 'You alright Darling, You gonna buy me a drink then? No, but i was thinking about getting one for your friend.'
The 21-year-old nudged Shakira's Hips Don't Lie into the second spot after it spent just one week at the top of the singles chart, with her single, Smile.
Smile starts off the album to a good start...
