Patricia O'Conner has produced a jewel of a book in `Woeis I: The Grammarphobe's Guide to Better English in Plain English'. Perhaps the greatest strength in the book is the recognition that language is ever-changing and evolving. Thus, her rules are tempered with the reality that sometimes, that which is wrong today might not be wrong tomorrow.
To those of you in the know, 'normalcy' is one of those words that (which?) is actually an improper construct, made to be a viable choice by the fact that a lofty person (in this case, I believe it was a President) used it in public.
This book is filled with tidbits of information for any who are interested in the playfulness of language. I particularly appreciate the part of the book that talks about modern trends -- that which was once improper but is no longer, and those things which ...
Advantages: Lovely colours, cute dinosaurs and a heart warming tale Disadvantages: none, apart from a lack of featurettes and extra bits
quality of the graphics and animation, I'd say it was quite a let down. It's not really been improved very much from the old Video tape format. The songs and sound quality however is noticably different, either that or my speakers are much better than when we had the VHS's. Growing up in Detroit in the 1970s, his father who was a saxophonist instilled a love of music in Felix, especially soul and funk like Stevie Wonder. He was also in an R'n'B band and during his two years at university in America's Deep South he made some hiphop. He hated his days at college there and so he dropped out, returning home to his beloved Detroit. He studied Audio Engineering at Columbia College, which would prove to be invaluble in his ...
