Shania Twain, born Eileen Edwards in Windsor Ontario Canada, raised the Ojibwa Indian cultural way by her adopted father Jerry Twain and mother Sharon, with her two sisters and two brothers.
They lived in a small town called Timmins in Ontario, She worked in a reforestation business owned by her father, from the age of 17-21, but would often be found singing in the local bars and clubs from a very young age.
Her parents were killed in a car crash when she was just 21, leaving her to take charge of the family, to make money she relied more on the singing in bars as the main income.
In 1990 she adopted the name of SHANIA from a local Ojibwa woman, Shania meaning "I'm on my way" in Ojibway.

Shania met Robert John Mutt Lange in 1993 after a series of phone calls between them, in which Mutt found an interest in Shania's music, as a song writer/producer.

A short song that highlights the suffering some children face, Shania makes donations at every concert she does to local children charitys.
In all this album is a great easy listening collection of songs, that will appeal to anyone even if your not a great country fan.
Shania is one of the most succesful female artists of all time and has won countless awards, and was 5th biggest earner in 2004 from her world tour, and even out sells Madonna for most records sold.

When Shania first arrived in Nashville she ran into alot of problems. First of all, Shania is a writer and her record company wouldn't let her write her own songs, second of all, Shania appeared to be to opinionated for Nashvilles taste. Shania truly thought she'd never make it, until she met 'Mutt' Lange, legendary producer of great acts such as Bryan Adams and AC/DC. When Shania and 'Mutt' met all the pieces finally formed and she was saved.
The WomanInMe is the first album Twain and Lange wrote together, and is the album that they fell in love making.
This is Shania's second album, her debut was a Nashville record but this one, Shania says, is all her. Shania has put her heart and soul into this record, and it shows.
Unlike Shania's later albums, The WomanInMe consists mainly of ballads.

This album was released before Shania's revamp that has since turned her into one of the world's biggest country stars. Oddly no hit singles were released from this album either. It's a pleasant album and has some nice tracks on it, but there's no real stormers like almost every track is on Come On Over. It's disappointing if that's what you are expecting, but it's a nice country album anyhow. It also has an enhanced section, but unfortunately, that's not very well done at all. The new bonus tracks aren't anything special either (they're all mixes of tracks on here) apart from on the medley mix where the gorgeous You've Got A Way from Notting Hill and Come On Over features for a short while. ...

This album is before Shania?s sexy makeover ? and it?s not as good as Come On Over. Unfortunately, there?s no real upbeat tracks and nothing that particularly stands out ? not even the bonus tracks from when this album was recently re-released. There?s nothing on it to familiarise yourself with the album either ? no hit singles were ever released from it. It?s a good country album, with some great country tracks (and titles) like Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? and God Bless This Child. The enhanced section is also very odd and badly put together. Overall, it?s nothing special, just a pleasant country album, but not anything the Shania of today would record. ...

Twain is not just a singer; she also co-wrote most of the songs with Lange, and they run the gamut from soft ballad to reeling rock. The opening track is a slow, slurry ballad that would be just as comfortable on the adult contemporary charts as on the country charts, and is reminiscent of Bette Midler's style of balladeering. The single "Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" is a bouncy shuffle that could bring Twain to the forefront of country music. Her vocal is pure country, straight from yesteryear, a matured Brenda Lee. But with thick, rock-oriented production, there isn't much, besides Twain's twang, that labels this album "country."
