Woman On Top - Original Soundtrack

Advantages: Lots of great songs by great bands
Disadvantages: Just a few weak links, and that's about it

...Not a greatly heralded soundtrack but a top quality one nevertheless. Once you see Ryan Phillippe cruising in a sportscar to Placebo’s “Every Me, Every You” the soundtrack is appealing, and it is full of good songs. While the songs were cleverly placed in the film the soundtrack gives you the chance to enjoy the tracks by themselves, which most of the songs are deserving of. Blur, Fatboy Slim, The Verve, Counting Crows and Skunk Anansie all feature on a star-studded soundtrack. Furthermore the songs are not just piecemeal offerings from these groups, they are top quality tracks (why “Colorblind” by Counting Crows is not more popular is something I fail to understand). ...This is one of the best soundtracks of the year. The music really captures the moment, and Aerosmith have made a good contribution to the film and to the soundtrack. Unlike their usual heavy style, Aerosmith have put together some quite romantic songs to create the near perfect soundtrack. The album also contains other artists, but it is fairly obvious that it is dominated by Aerosmith! This is a great soundtrack that you can really relate to the film, and is an incredibly good buy. If you like this sort of thing (the dramatic romance type of music) then this is the album for you, particularly if you watched and loved the film.... Read review

...I have this soundtrack and I have to be honest and say that although I thought the movie was a bit cheesy the music on here is great. I particularly love the Lauren Wood - Fallen track which I think is really quite beautiful and very soothing. Rested against a bit of Bowie and Roy Orbison and this is a really fun soundtrack that'll please any one on a road trip. It's great when I've got a long distance to drive and with such a mix of musical styles there's something for everyone on here. Who doesn't know the words to 'Pretty Woman'? I think it's probably one of the best all round soundtracks I've ever heard in film terms and considering I've watched literally thousands I'd say that's a real compliment to the producers of this CD. Buy it if you're a real music lover and you'll be guaranteed to find something you like!... Read review
