the worst world music in the world
Review of Tabla Tarang - Ragas On Drums (The World's Musical Traditions #10) - Pandit Kamalesh Maitra by raaheel

Advantages: interesting new idea
Disadvantages: sounds awful

When i first heard of this CD i was like WOW! For the first time ever someone is playing tunes on tablas. (the western equivelent would be playing songs on loads of drum kits all tuned to different notes). I bought the cd immediately and couldnt wait to play it at home. I must admit though, when i played it, i could have killed myself. It was sooo dreadful. the most boring and monotonous music i have ever heard. it actually featured some of my favourite ...
...in to the store and buying this. i am soo sorry for doing such a negative review but i have to get this out. Please no body ever buy this cd because like me you will become scarred for the rest of you lives! also, if you are into world music or indian music, there are hundreds of other cds, buy them, not this. even if somehow you enjoy this cd (there must be something wrong with you ;) you will get completely bored out of your mind after the first ... Review of Bourbon And Rosewater - Vishwa Mohan Bhatt by raaheel

Advantages: great collaberation
Disadvantages: none

this is such a briliant cd. a true ground breaking cd with collaberation of such distinguished artists. The guitarist vishwa mohan bhatt is so talented and has such a wide range of music that he can make anything sound good. this cd has some really unique songs and i really get inspired to make music when i hear this cd. it just proves that east and west can collaberate and merge so well even still preserving the features of both. it is a really ... Lui na Greine - a great CD!
Review of Lui Na Greine - Joe Mhici & Jimi Seosamh/Mac Grianna by Seamus1745

Advantages: Great whistle playing by a native Gael
Disadvantages: None

Lui na Greine is the time of day when the sun is just setting - a peaceful time to reflect on the beauties of nature and the world around us. The Gaelic language is rich with terms like this, and it is reflected in their music. Seosamh Mac Grianna ( known locally as Joe Mhici Jimi ) is from Rann na Feirste, a small rural community in the Rosses, near Gweedore in the Co. Donegal Gaeltacht. The region is rich with Irish tradition and culture, and ...
...talented people spring from this area, including such well-known groups and musicians as Enya, Clannad, and Altan. Joe's music is strongly rooted in the native language and traditions of his people. He has been playing the feadog (pennywhistle) since he was 7, and also plays the accordion, flute and fife. He is a world-class musician, and several of these tunes are his own compositions. He is joined by the multi-talented Manus Lunny of Capercaillie ... Read review

Songs of Love Songs of Freedom
Review of 30 Anos - Mercedes Sosa by Zmugzy

Advantages: A classic collection of Latin American songs.
Disadvantages: There is nothing worth a mention here

...mentioned on the sleeve. 30 Anos" presents a repertoire of classic songs from the roots of Argentine folk music to more contemporary compositions that form the soundtrack of Argentina's recent political struggles. This CD will allow you to hear Sosa's powerful and unstrained voice. With its extensive vocal range exuding expressiveness, colour and warmth - hers is perhaps one of the greatest voices of Argentinian music. Her songs are often simple ...
...accompanied by the sound of a single acoustic guitar, piano or mouth organ. You do not need to understand Spanish in order to admire and enjoy the power and emotion of Sosa's performances for she always sings from the heart. Mercedes Sosa is a dynamic and inspiring performer. Her music also sends a message that calls for peace, tolerance and understanding throughout the world. Tracks: 1. La Maza 2. Maria Maria 3. Gracias A La Vida 4. Todo ... Read review

Review of Greatest Hits - Perez Prado by nikkeiperuano

Advantages: Nothing
Disadvantages: Nothing

Talking about Damaso Perez Prado is talking abot one of the best musician of the fifties who makes popular the Mambo with his Orquestra specially in Latin America with "Mambo Number 5", "Mamno Number 8", "Mambo del Ruletero", "Mambo Universitario", "Lupita" for example having a dance music as same as Huahuanco (another Cubean musical rate). At that years, my parents when they were singles dance Perez Prado Music in the parties as for example in ...
...music 50 years after and I like this songs because some Mambos seems as a Huahuanco could be as "Que rico mambo" or some Mambos as "Mambo in Sax" seems as Jazz music. -------------- His music's characteristic is that most of his music are instrumental with a Chorus for example in "Que rico mambo" says "Mambo, que rico mambo, mambo que rico, eh, eh", and having a music a musical compass ending Perez Prado shots as "Uh" for example. --------------- ...
