Perez Prado music
Review of Greatest Hits - Perez Prado by
nikkeiperuano
Advantages: Nothing
Disadvantages: Nothing
Talking about Damaso Perez Prado is talking abot one of the best musician of the fifties who makes popular the Mambo with his Orquestra specially in Latin America with "Mambo Number 5", "Mamno Number 8", "Mambo del Ruletero", "Mambo Universitario", "Lupita" for example having a dance music as same as Huahuanco (another Cubean musical rate).
At that years, my parents when they were singles dance Perez Prado Music in the parties as for example in ... ...music 50 years after and I like this songs because some Mambos seems as a Huahuanco could be as "Que rico mambo" or some Mambos as "Mambo in Sax" seems as Jazz music.
--------------
His music's characteristic is that most of his music are instrumental with a Chorus for example in "Que rico mambo" says "Mambo, que rico mambo, mambo que rico, eh, eh", and having a music a musical compass ending Perez Prado shots as "Uh" for example.

Seventh Trip
Review of Seventh Trip - Kroke by
dangaroo
Advantages: Jazz Klezmer mix works well
Disadvantages: Some fairly unmemorable tracks
...but also some Sephardic stuff. Seventh Trip is their most recent album (8th album) and was released by Oriente in 2007. The album is not at all bad but it's nowhere near as good as their 2000 release - The Sounds of the Vanishing World. That album was more traditional than this one which attempts to fuse jazz and even rock in to the tracks, it's the kind of album that grows on you.
The album starts off with an arabic feeling with a bit of rock thrown ... ...which is a very busy track, lots going on, then on to Canon which is pure Klezmer music before disappearing a bit for a few tracks which are a bit slow and depressing before coming back with some more jazzy tracks and finishing with another busy track "Seventh Trip"
It's not bad but I was a little disappointed and it doesn't stand up well in comparison to The Sounds of The Vanishing World or East meets West (with Nigel Kennedy) ...

Clannad At Its Best.
Review of Greatest Hits - Clannad by
MasonEsq
Advantages: Beautiful music.
Disadvantages: Not every tune is top class.
...Clannad, including all of the greatest hits by that band, such as 'The Theme from Harry's Game'. There are many spellbinding tunes, such as 'Skellig', 'Something to Believe In' and 'Almost Seems to Late to Turn'. These songs enrapture the soul and move one greatly with the soulful singing and powerful instrumentation. 'Robin- The Hooded Man' is also on this CD, which was an immense success and came from the album 'Legend' which won a BAFTA, the first ... ...the quality and originality of their works perfectly in this CD.
The band is primarily folk, originating from Ireland and at first focusing on traditional folk music, however, later on in their career, the band moved towards pop music whilst still retaining the hugely strong Celtic influence. This CD gives a sample of all of their work and is perfect for all those wanting an varied, stirring CD.
Enya, the lead singer of the band, is characterized ...

A very good Indian Percussion Album
Review of Rhythmscape - Bikram Ghosh by
supermanj
Advantages: Great songs, talented, a lot of variety
Disadvantages: Some tracks aren't as strong as others
A great instrumental album with a lot of variety. Actually a great piece of percussion by a master in the trade. Bikram Ghosh is the son of tabla maestro Pt Sankar Ghosh and the undoubted quality of this ground breaking percussion is there for all to see.
The album starts off with a track called "Rhythm Speaks" which gradually builds up in feeling and emotion leading to a great piece of percussion and a great opening for this album by the tabla ... ...Innocence" - a feel good song with all the vocals done by young, and very talented children with beautiful innocent voices. "Gangotri" is my favorite track on the album - taking 8 minutes of slow careful build up for the scintillating climax. Dirctly after this is "Tandav" with a reed flute piece within it that takes you directly into a fairy tale. ...

The best album of 2006
Review of Along The Dusty Road - Niraj Chag by
supermanj
Advantages: Beautifully produced, great listening, some of the best songs you will ever hear
Disadvantages: not every track is a masterpiece
A real gem. A beautiful album where each track seems to melt into the next masterpiece. This Asian fusion album, for me, was the best album of 2006 - in any genre of any language. Period. The production is artistic and soulful producing spectacular songs that will take your breath away.
The serene introduction sets you up nicely for the best track of the album "Khwaab" which just oozes beauty and feeling - undoubtedly a timeless classic which will ... ...of this album is "Bangles" - a sad song you feel you can really connect with - brings you down to earth quickly and when the song is over you feel completely serene. My personal other 2 favourites are the dramatic "Kanya," a type of song known as a "Khatak bol" which builds up slowly and steady to an energetic climax before an abrupt ending - leaving the listener invigorated. In direct contrast is "The Nomad" which is a "Sargam" track - a song so ...
