Voices of the Valley, Fron Male Voice Choir
Review of Voices Of The Valley - Fron Male Voice Choir by red-head

Advantages: Excellent Choice of Songs
Disadvantages: None

This CD is excellent. I have always been a fan of Male Voice choirs (not just because I'm welsh) because the overall harmony is gorgeous!! I saw this CD advertised recently on the TV and my parents bought it for me. I was not disappointed. There is an excellent selection on traditional welsh ballads with past pop hits etc. People often mistake Male Voice Choirs as just a 'Welsh Thing' that they won't nessarily enjoy, I think they would be pleasently ...
...20, not many of the younger generation appreciate music different to hip-pop, punk-rock or rap but as I was brought up surrounded by jazz, classical, brass etc, I have a much wider taste, thankfully. This is a CD that I play quite often and enjoy every time. The Tracks on this CD: 1) Sailing 2) Abide With Me 3) Jerusalem 4) Land Of My Fathers 5) Danny Boy 6) Unchained Melody 7) You Raise Me Up 8) Shenandoah 9) You'll Never Walk Alone 10) All Through ... Get chocolate, a coffee and relax with this CD
Review of Amarantine - Enya by jm160

Advantages: Wintery, mellow, haunting, classic, beguiling
Disadvantages: Er...er... well, none actually.

...has improved with age and Amarantine represents something of a tour de force. The tracks swing wildly from the soaring, majestic sound of the first song (Less than a pearl) to the more sedate, ethereal pleasantry of the eleventh (Amid the falling snow). Some of the tracks are encouraging, urging you to feel better about things and get on with life (Track 6 - Long, Long Journey) while others simply instill within you the firm belief that everything ...
...In fact, the music drags you through such a range of emotions and themes that, by the time the CD ends, you have utterly forgotten who you are, what you were doing, where you were going and why. The wonderful thing about it is, that you don't really care any more. It is hard to say when you should listen to Enya; she lacks the upbeat tempo of 'getting ready' music, is not suicidal enough for 'just split-up' music and doesn't swear enough for 'I'm ... Look what i found in my Dreamcatcher
Review of Dreamcatcher - Secret Garden by RainbowDiva2000

Advantages: wonderful songs
Disadvantages: none really

...instrumental song. ~~~~~ Dreamcatcher is a 18 track "Best Of" album released in 2000 and created especially for the UK market to bring us up-to-date with Secret Garden's previous albums: White Stones, Songs From A Secret Garden and Dawn Of A New Century. Just a note: Normally I would not add lyrics to my music reviews, but because not all the songs have lyrics and for the ones that do, they aren't very long at all. I thought it would create a more ...
...~~~~~ Track 4 - Dreamcatcher 4.35 (taken from the album Dawn Of A New Century) The song starts and ends with the short lyrics written by Nikki Matheson who provided backing vocals in the second track "Prayer". Hear my silent prayer Heed my quiet call When the dark and blue surround you Step into my sigh Look inside the light You will know that I have found you As with the other songs on this album it is a calming song but thanks to the talents ... Taraf de Haidouks - Band of Gypsies
Review of Band Of Gypsies [Digipak] - Taraf De Haidouks by dangaroo

Advantages: Fast, lively, talented, rare sounds
Disadvantages: None that I can think of except it might be difficult to understand lyrics

...a little bit about the band as I notice there is a distinct lack of reviews about them. Taraf de Haidouks are the Buena Vista Social Club of Europe, they're unbelievably talented musicians from a small village in Romania. The band line-up changes and they are forever willing to experiment with other musicians. Having been to a few live concerts of them myself, I can say that they are very open, friendly, talented and create a vigour and excitement ...
...on to the album - Band of Gypsies was recorded in Bucharest in the year 2000, it was the 4th album put out by Taraf De Haidouks, looking to integrate other Balkan styles they invited Kocani Orkestar (from Macedonia), Filip Simeonov a clarinet player from Bulgaria and percussionist Tarik Tuysuzoglu from Turkey to play alongside them on this masterpiece. Apart from the aforementioned songs, there are also a collection of live songs taken from a concert ... Read review

A pity she hasn't followed up on this album
Review of No Mermaid - Sinead Lohan by graeme10

Advantages: Not a bad song on the entire disc - it's that good
Disadvantages: No follow-up album in sight just yet, despite rumours to the contrary

...the world, should have. Thankfully no relation to current tabloid-favourite Lindsay Lohan, Irish singer-songwriter Sinead Lohan's second solo album "No Mermaid" contains a whole raft of memorable and accessible songs. "No Mermaid" was actually something of a departure from the artist's first CD, 1995's "Who Do You Think I Am?". The earlier work was much more folkier, the songs based on more traditional arrangements. Forr her follow-up, this seemed ...
...To date, however, there's been no further news on this, which is a shame - Sinead Lohan has a fine voice and deserves a wider exposure. In fact, I regularly pick "No Mermaid" out of my collection at the expense of more recent purchases, it's that worthy of repeated listening. Twelve fine tracks make up the album: 01. No Mermaid 02. Don't I Know 03. Whatever It Takes 04. Loose Ends 05. Whether Or Not 06. What Can Never Be 07. Believe It If ... Read review
