This is one album by Westlife that i am really impressed with. It includes a mixture of ballads (which Westlife are renowned for - stand up for the keychange, anyone?) and more upbeat tracks (yes i didn't think Westlife could do them, but they can!)
What makes this album stand out from the rest for me, and also more personal from the boys to the fans, i think, is that the boys actually took part in the writing of some of the tracks on this one. The tracks they took part in the writing of were; Bop Bop Baby, I Wanna Grow Old With You, When You Come Around, Don't Let Me Go, Love Crime and Imaginary Diva. So yes, for all the critics out there - they can write their own songs, not just perform covers!
The album opens up with 'Queen Of My Heart', which is one of Westlife's trademark ballads, with a big chorus to stand up to (haha!) It's deffinately a strong song to open the album with, and gives a taster as what to expect for the rest of the album. The boys harmonise well - Shane's vocals are outstanding as usual! Beautiful song.
'World Of Our Own', the title track and also one of the singles released from the album, is a fun catchy number. It's certainly one that gets people on the dancefloor when played in clubs etc... I noticed little kids love jumping around to it. It's an original song, and i'd say the boys releasing this as a single, managed to get out to the public that they're not just ballad singers - by any means! The vocals are strong, and it doesn't disappoint!
My personal favourite would have to be 'When You're Looking Like That'. The song never fails to get me singing along, and no-matter what mood i'm in it never fails to bring a big smile to my face. I just forget all my worries while listening to this. It's a fun fast little number, with a good beat to it. The chorus sticks in your head. The track was included on their Coast To Coast album. I would say it is easily one of their best.
Overall, i would say that if you love fun pop records - then this one is deffinately! Go on! Even if you have previously criticised the boys - purchase this - and i can guarantee that your opinion of them will change upon the first listen! Lots of originals too!
The album can be purchased from HMV and Amzon.
