likeStar Trekmovies: every other release is the good one. WhileMezzamorphisandTouchhad their bright moments, it was the subsequent releases ofGloandWorld Servicethat truly testify to the musical and songwriting brilliance of these faith-based Brit rockers. Lead man Martin Smith, well known within Christian music circles for his songwriting prowess (on songs such as "I Can Sing of Your Love Forever"), combines with guitarist Stu Garrard for 12 tracks filled with melody, catchy hooks, and enough crunch to satisfy anyone's cutting-edge tastes. The irresistible chorus lines in "Rain Down", "Majesty", and "Everyone Knows" show that the Smith-Garrard tandem knows a good pop song. But the more subtle and substantial element inWorld Serviceis the clear comfort the band has with each other. Drummer Stew Smith and bassist Jon Thatcher lay down rock-steady rhythms throughout while keyboardist Tim Jupp adds just enough spice to make it interesting. "Inside Outside" is a great example of this with plenty of space between each musician's moments. Delirious is clearly more confident and mature in their craft. Music fans in the Christian world and beyond will be all the better for it.--Michael Lyttle, Amazon.com

A band which are as good as - if not better - than secular music is something which I have always looked for. I have found them. Delirious?. To start with, the chart sucess says it all. In the UK they have been into the top 20 singles chart repeatedly. They ahre constantly in the top 5 - if not top- of the christain rock CD's. They have over 10 years experience after starting life in Littlehampton leading youth services. They have since released 12 albums (7 of them studio ones, 5 ones are live recordings). These started with 'Cutting Edge' which were two two dics collections of the D: songs from those Littlehampton meetings. these include classic songs, which are known world over in churches.
They have also released three other live albums, D:tour live 1997, and live and in the can. Most recently, they have released a live album with Hillsong in Australia.
Their studio albums started after Jon Thatcher (bassist) and Martin Smith (lead vocalist, guitars) suffered a car crash, whcih caused Martin to be in hospital for quite some time. This was when thay became full time musicians.
The first album was 'King of Fools'. This started the D: journey. The songs were amazing, and this started the chart sucess. deeper was released, and made the Radio 1 playlist, after White Ribbon Day was released.
From there is kept going. Glo, Mezzamorphis and Audio Lessonover? were then released, clocking up singles, fans and a reputation as easily the best christain band in the world. This was topped with the release of Deeper, a double CD collection of the best D: songs since the beginning. They were on a high.

WORLD SERVICE 1// Grace Like A River This is a heavily pounduing rock track with a loud riff and an anthemic chorous. Its a cross between U2 and and rockier U2 songs. Its an infusion only Delirious can do. As normal, Stu Garrards guitar playing is phenominal (you should see them live). This is an ideal opener to the album,a s thats what the album is all about: grace.
2// Rain Down This is the anthemic song the album will be remembered by. The memorable lyrics help this song with its apbeat tempo, and guitar chords. This is one of Delirious' best songs.
3// God In Heaven This is also a very loud rock song with an athemic chorus. Delirious seem to do this best. This is also a really good song.
4// Majesty (Here I Am) This song won worship song of the year 2004, and its a great one. The song centres around picking and a moving chorous. This song makes a couple of my mated cry! Awww... It's one of those songs.
5// Inside Outside This a great poppy song, with great melodies. this was released in Germany this September. This has pop like guitars playing a cool melody.
6// Free This goes back to the rock style, and has a great riff, and a really poppy chorus. Tim Jupp (keyboards) help out Stu with this riff, which gives it more depth.
7// Everyone Knows This song is really popy. I don't think this one is christain, but its a happy song anyway.
8// With You Another popy song, with a riff by the piano and theguitar. The most predominant thing here is the drum beat by Stew Smith. The bridge rocks alot though.
9// Mountains High This is a very slow song accompanied by a piano for most of the song. This is a beautiful song. The best way to describe it would be a U2 version of Fix You by Coldplay.
10// I Was Blind Another slow song, only its better than the last one. Just the piano and the guitars, and on the chorus Stu uses his effects pedal to great effects, to give it a more rounded mysterious feel. This is a really emotional song.
11// Feel It Coming On This song really soundl ike U2, with edge style riffs. This is another highlight of the album.
12// Every Little Thing This is the last song, and the one which has got Daniel Bedingfield on it. This is another anthemic song, but you cen't really hear DB on it...
This album is great, and should be part of any christain album collection, and others. Visit www.delirious.co.uk for more.
Advantages: Thumpingly good tunes Disadvantages: The album finishes
Delerious? formed in the early 90's. Thier lead singer Martin Smith is very well known within Christian worship music with many of his songs being sung in churches every Sunday around the world.
Delirious? have never really made it big within main stream music, primarily due to the nature of the UK music industry which (unlike USA) views christian rock or pop bands as something that won't apeal to the general public.
However, Delirious' fan base is ever increasing and all this without the dependancy of air time that main stream groups depend so highly upon. Delirious? keep on getting better and better, developing new material and experimenting with fresh sounds.
Thier album WorldService is a harmonious mix of deep bassy riffs and melodic tunes which stay with you after listening. If you've never seen these guys play live ...
