Advantages: A breath of fresh air to any CD collection Disadvantages: Not enough people know their name
...sounding disjointed in any way. To describe the sound is certainly a difficult one; I think it can best be put as a blend between the funk and up-beat tempo of Jamiroquai and the mellowness of bands such as The Brand New Heavies.
One of the styles that seems, from my point of view, unique to Jinrai is their chilled-out funk sound, which can best be seen in tracks such as ‘World Is On Your List’ and the title track, ‘Constant Music’. The album begins with the track ‘World Is On Your List’, which itself opens with the majestic sound of a single flute playing, accompanied by a very simple guitar rhythm. There is an immediate chilled-out vibe encompassing the sound, which is echoed further by the mellow vocals that follow. The blend of male and female vocals works superbly here, and this gradually leads you to the point where the funkiness...

Advantages: pure funk. Disadvantages: erm... ... I couldn't get the inlay out of the case. I think that's more my problem though.
...Jamiroquai's 'A Funk Odyssey' - it does exactly what it says on the tin.
1. Feel So Good - Although it opens with an ominous windy sound, this track is exactly what we've come to expect from Jamiroquai; pure funk and acid jazz, only this time with no deep-rooted meaning. A no-brainer foot stomper this is, with a big bassline and a little funky guitar riff which (I think) is the sample referred to in the booklet. A definite contender for the next single, and one of the standout tracks on this immense album.
Funk-o-meter: *****
2. Little L - The first single to be released off the album, so you probably all know it. Once again a nice build up at the start, another driving bassline and you just can't resist shaking your ass to this one. I'm pretty sure this is about an ex-girlfriend, but of JK or Smith (Track 9 is the only one JK...

Advantages: Lots of songs, lost of variety, a decent booklet, decent funk Disadvantages: The songs can go on a bit
...I'm fairly new to the world of the Funkadelic, but I feel that this ablum is just about as good as introductions get. The album is two discs, with a totoal of 25 tracks. Each track isn't the same. They all exibit a different KIND of funk, with is also a useful tool especiall for a novice like me as it helps me more clearly define what area of funk I am most interested in. Each disc is a good as the other, with the same quality of music being maintaind throughout. Thea only problem with both the live tracks is that you can't hear the music clearly enough, but that isn't a reflection on the music, rather the recording technique. The only ploblem that could arise is that you have to REALLY like funk to own this album, as the sonst usually go on for over 8 minutes. If your not quite sure whether you are into funk or not...
