...The San Francisco Bay Area rock scene of the late '60s was one that encouraged radical experimentation and discouraged the type of mindless conformity that's often plagued corporate rock. When one considers just how different Santana, Jefferson Airplane, MobyGrape and the Grateful Dead sounded, it becomes obvious just how much it was encouraged. In the mid-'90s, an album as eclectic as Abraxas would be considered a marketing exec's worst nightmare. But at the dawn of the 1970s, this unorthodox mix of rock, jazz, salsa and blues proved quite successful. Whether adding rock elements to salsa king Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va," tembracing instrumental jazz-rock on "Incident at Neshabur" and "Samba Pa Ti" or tackling moody blues-rock on Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman," the band keeps things unpredictable yet cohesive. Advantages: Chilling out music, instantly recognisable tunes Disadvantages: None
...A bit slow off the ball I know but I've only just bought Moby - Play. Sitting here as I write, listening to it, I have to say it is an excellent album. I didn't realise that Moby had actually wrote alot of the songs on the album until I heard them.
To anyone who thinks they have never heard a Moby song - chances are that you have. Most of the songs on the album have been used in films or adverts - many will surprise you!
It definately is an album to chill out to and possibly one of the best I've got. Well worth it and just a final note if you are going to buy it why not check out my comment on CD-Wow.com - one of the cheapest CD retailers around....

Advantages: A good mixture of tracks , for all moods! Disadvantages: A tough act to follow , this gem !
...Moby "18" is the follow up to "Play", the highly acclaimed and well received album . In fact it went platinum in many countries !
I already had this album , and enjoy it still !
I wanted to know if the next album could come up trumps and I wasnt let down !
Released in 2002 , A year on, I feel "18" needs a much needed opinion , as it seems to the have the same qualities as " Play" .
Again consistency throughout the album is the key to it's appeal .
I bought this album from woolies last year on its release at the price of £13.99. Although also available through the website
www.cd-wow.com ,
currently at the price of 8.99 !
The album sports a cover depicting Moby dressed in a blue spacesuit complete with helmet, on what looks like a desolate planet!
On closer inspection the cd contains 18 tracks ,with an inlay of more pictures of Moby...
