I have'nt really been into the girls music for long but i heard a few of there songs and they sounded quite good. So i decided to go buy this album i got home and then realised i got the one with the bonus Cd and as a whole i found it to be a excellent album. I am going to take you through each of the tracks.
CD 1
1 Intro (The writings on the Wall) When you get into this relitively short track you start to get a Spanish feel with guitars and Pianos. You have the rough voices of them on this track with them giving you the jist of what the album is going to be like 6/10
2 So Good At the start you get a sole from either a guitar or Harp which sounds quite good. You get all three of them singin all the song for this one and you don't have anyone doing a solo. Its quite poppy and quite addictive. 8/10
3 Bills Bills Bills This was the first to be released as a single. When you first listen you get the clear sounds of a Keyboard and a Symbol. This is the first track were one of the does a solo effect. It is a lot downbeat and not as poppy as the rest of the album. 8/10
4 Confessions (Featuring Missy Elliot) At the beginning you had a bit of a beat and then they went back to a bit of a Spanish feel again. Missy Elliot does not do much in this apart from do a few groans. The song again is more about problems than good things so it is not a poppy song. The
chorus is slightly more poppy and comes across more. 7/10
5 Bug a Boo This was released as the second single of the album. At the beginning it sounds mechanical and you get a bit of keyboard as well. This song is about men who keep going after women after they have been rejected. All the girls get to sing a bit of solo in this track. The track is not that upbeat again because the song is negative but the singing is quite quick. The chorus is catchy and will get you singing along. 7/10
6 Temptation Straight from the beginning you can tell it is a very slow song ans proberbly more to slow dance to. You have the guitar through the whole of the song. The singing is very soft and is nearly like a whisper. So this is more of a track to chill to. 6/10
7 Now thats she's gone At the beginning it sounds like a Janet Jackson song. Again the singer is very soft and is another one to chill to. Again a very obvious keyboard in the background. Proberbly the least favorite of the album 5/10
8 Where'd you go This one you can hear the floaty voice of Beyonce. Again you have guitar and keyboard in the background. More upbeat then the last two tracks but still relitivly mild to what we expect of them. 6/10
9 Hey Ladies Very obvious keyboards in the background producing a lot of simple beats. The lyrics are a lot quicker and mor to the style of Destinys Child. A very catchy chrous and will get you shaking your booty a bit 7/10
10 If you leave (featuring Next) At the beginning you get a few original sounds from a keyboard. The lyrics are very Harmonic and sounds like something you would hear a choir. You get a bit from Next and gives a different side to the song because he has a very soft voice and does'nt carry as long as the girls voices. SAnother song you could relax too. 7/10
11 Jumpin Jumpin This was another one of the tracks that was released as a single and proberbly one of the tracks peeople remember of the album. You have a quicker rythem than any of the other songs so far. The lyrics are a lot more sharp and direct. This is a upbeat track and will get you dancing. 10/10
12 Say my Name Another track to be released as a single. It is clear and the beginning there are guitars involved again. The verses are very downbeat and the lyrics are soft but when you get into the chorus it is more upbeat and the lyrics are a louder and direct and will get you dancing along as well as singing. One of the better tracks on the album 9/10
13 She can't Love you From the beginning it sounds like another slowish song and it is. The lyrics are soft and gentle and will have you mezmorised. Not as catchy as the other songs and proberbly one of the tracks that would be at the bottom of the pile 6/10
14 Stay Has a Harp sound at the beginning and makes you feel good. This track has the softest and best lyrics on the who;e of the album. This is one of the only love songs on the album making it a unique track on the album 7/10
15 Sweet Sixteen Very good use of guitar at the bsginnig and a clear use of flute as well. This is one of the tracks that stand out because it is so different in style to the rest of the album. Beyonce sings most of this song because she has the best voice for. 7/10
16 Outro This is to end the album (well nearly). There is no music at all on this and is all singing. To be honest it is not that good and not worth listening to. 4/10
17 Get on the Bus You have the help of someone on this track don't know it is but it is sort of rapping to give a totally different feel. The girls intervene after about 45 seconds. Has a heavenly feel to it at times and is a fairly good track but nothing special. 6/10
These are the tracks on CD 2 but you might not get the bonus disc if you buy a copy.
CD 2
1 Independant Woman Part 1 This is the most successfull track on the album and when i heard that this song was on the album, made my mind up to purchase it. You have a constant beat in the background through the whole track. The verses and the Chorus are catchy and you will be singing along whoever you are. This is an in your face song and the most upbeat and R&B track on the song. But most people have heard this song and can make there own mind up on whet they think. 10/10
2 Independant Woman Part 2 At the beginning it sounds like something from a cartoon show. Very slower than the first and contains nearly the same lyrics but changed them slightly. Was never going to live up to the first one but still fairly good 7/10
3 Eight Days of Xmas Has the Jingle bells theme at the beginning and then changes to a more harder beat to it. It them cahnger over to the twelve days of Christmas but there are only 8 in this song. The song is allright but nothing to write home about 7/10
4 No No No Again the keyboard is used to produce a few weird and wonderfull sounds. There is not much going on in the music in the background section but the lyrics come through a lot more because of this which is'nt entirely a good thing. Not the best track to finish on but is still fairlt good bacause they have drafted Wyclef and his unique voice to it. 7/10
Overall Score 141/210
A very good score from the girls and a lot of very good tracks on it. If you are into all aspects of R&B this is the album to buy because it has everyting
