Advantages: Brian Blessed's in it shouting "DIVE" alot! And it's got the best soundtrack to a film... ever! Disadvantages: Maybe to camp and colourful for some. Avoid if you lack a sense of humour or are looking for something high-brow.
the pure in heart, May find the golden grail, Oh oh - oh oh." The Queen lyrics say it all. Camp, daft, lunacy of the highest order, that's endlessly entertaining in its quirkiness and adroit sense of fun. This is majestic eighties genius and along with Evil Dead 2, The Princess Bride, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Big Trouble in Little China, you'll be hard pushed to find anything more relentlessly enjoyable. Don't listen to its po-faced detractors - for sheer cinema fun Flash Gordon can't be beaten.
What's on the DVD - Apart from the film trailer, bugger all. Which is either a blessing or a curse. A blessing, in that the package concentrates solely on the film, which, after all is the main reason you're purchasing the DVD. Or a curse, because how many of you would actually like to hear an audio-commentary with Brian Blessed ...
Advantages: it's cute and funny Disadvantages: not much in the way of extras
get the small Josh's clothes on (he ended up stealing his Dad's) and the reaction of Josh's Mum when she finds the big Josh in the house.
It was a "nice" film, some scenes are really funny, some rather poignant. It's not a classic like the ever popular Forrest Gump, (a firm favourite in our house) but a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours.
No one would buy this DVD for the extras. All they give you is the cinema trailer for the film lasting a little over two minutes. ...

Advantages: As close as it gets to the real thing? Disadvantages: May be uncomfortably close for some?
"The heroes have crosses above their heads, the ones that are buried in the cemeteries. Those are the true heroes, not us. We're just part of the works, that's all. And we thank God we got back alive." A veteran of Easy Company.
First of all, I realize that my review about Band of Brothers is quite lengthy, and for that I apologize because I am aware that long commentaries have the habit of becoming tedious or even self indulgent.. But I feel I would be doing a great disservice to the Band of Brothers experience by not being as thorough as possible.
Experiencing Band of Brothers starts not in the battlefields of Europe, nor in Camp Toccoa, Georgia. It begins in your hand, with the classically beautiful packaging of the 10 episode, six disc DVD set that is housed in a metal tin that at first glance resembles a military I.D. dog ...
