X-Plosive Techno - Hard Techno - Various Artists

...Firstly, this album's clasification 'techno' is wrong, allthough wholely understandable due to the group's name. Techno animal, stands for technological animal. It is an expiremental hip hop project, created and produced by Kevin Martin (God, The Bug) & Justin 'man of a thousand sounds' Broadrick (Godflesh, Final, Head of david, Jesu, Napalm Death, Ice, etc). Broadrick and Martin originally came from a punk rock background and have worked in many bands and different forms of music, techno animal began as a sideproject in the mid 90's as an outlet for both artist's increasing interest in hip hop music. For those who are about to turn away after reading the words hip hop, stop right there. This is not a conventional hip hop album per'se and may well appeal to people who are coming from either an electro or rock music background... Read review

Advantages: Real talent, it's not about money, Massive tunes

...Does anyone else remember techno before it became big business or is it just me? Before Ministry of Sound or Gatecrasher even existed people were releasing techno tunes because they loved it and this is what this compilation is all about. None of the tunes on this cd have had a previous commercial release but nearly all of them are far and away better than the crap that passes for dance music these days. The music here is designed to make you smile and make you rush which is the whole point of techno. The cd is split into two continuous mixes by DJ KIX who also contributes some of the tracks. The most amazing thing about it is that many of the tracks on this compilation were produced just using 'music 2000' on the playstation. If you can produce a track like the final tune of the first set, 'Vth' just using a playstation then i might... Read review
