...Or "Heir Kommt Die Sonne", as Rammstein sing it. Imagine if you will, the illegitimate child of Metallica and Kraftwerk: This is Rammstein! Musically, we have an exceptionally good Electro-Metal band, all crushing guitars, mechanical beats and soaring samples. Over the top of this backing we have vocals which are powerful, deep, and in German. Yes, that’s right, Rammstein have chosen to communicate their musical message to the world in their mother tongue. Wait! Don’t run! It actually works really well! Why no-one has thought of combining Metal with this truly guttural, harsh language, I’ll never know, but the end result is amazing. OK I’ve got a confession to make at this point; I haven’t really bought this Maxi-CD, I’ve seen the video for this track on a promo tape, and I’m in the process... Read review

Advantages: Excellent songs all round, all killer, no filler, epic songs. 'Sonne'
Disadvantages: Not enough songs, only 11 tracks.

...banging marching style riffs with a song about, well marching. There are little effects on this song, it’s mostly the down tuned guitar and thumping drum beat that causes you to jump about on this song. A little guitar solo in the middle tops off a great song with a real marching driving riff! This track is also the bands second single off Mutter. Who hasn’t heard the next song? Ok Bin Laden you can put your hand down now. I say this because everyone must have at some point heard ‘SONNE’ because it was simply one of the most played songs ever on music video stations and is often regarded as their best song ever. It starts off with a count up to 10 and then opens into a great pounding guitar riff that sounds dark and menacing, and sets the tone for the chorus which is an uplifting/epic/melodic piece that has to rank among the best choruses... ...Mutter, if you're a big Rammstein fan, isn't going to be your fist choice for best album. That's not to demean the quality of the album - but in contrast to Herzeleid and Sehnsucht, it's very, very different. Being used to "Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen" and "Asche Zu Asche", you're coming in expecting more pace and catchy riffs. You don't get it - you get pure, in your face, mosh-like-there's-no-tomorrow German metal. I myself am about as big a fan as it gets, having just about everything produced from the German industrial metallers cabinet - and this, out of all 5 albums, would be their "weakest" in my opinion - simply because of it's commerciality. Whilst the likes of "Sonne" and "Feuer Frei" have made it large, most notable with Feuer Frei being featured in hit film xXx, this would be an album if you were a 13/14 year old just... Read review
