Advantages: Great music, wonderful value, excellent lyrics Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...I’m currently in the process of collecting all my favourite vinyl albums on CD and finding some real bargains in the process. My latest acquisition at a mere £4.99 from Our Price is Elton John’s classic double album ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’.
I can vividly remember buying the original version on a day trip to London, just before Christmas in 1973. I went with some of my friends on the train, no mean feat in those days from the Shropshire backwaters and bought it from what I believe to be Virgin’s first music shop in Oxford Street. Nearly thirty years ago – doesn’t time fly! And yet the music and the memories are as fresh as ever.

Advantages: Music for All Ages Disadvantages: None
...Love him or hate him the name Elton John is one that we have all heard of at some time in our life.
He has made a multitude of songs spanning over thirty years and has performed with artists all over the world. His record sales worldwide have topped the 100 million mark and out of the 30 plus albums he has made no less than 7 have been consecutive number ones in the usa.
This particular double cd has all the hallmarks of an artist of great standing and his music speaks volumes. His partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin is put together in 2 cd\'s of 30 songs which seem to have their very own genre. Its hard to put it in a catagory but when listened to i see it as mood music. It has ups and downs and depending on how you feel will determine which songs you choose.
I purchased this album a few years ago after knowing a fair few songs...

Advantages: Some truly great tracks Disadvantages: Its nearly 30 years old
...If anyone were to judge Elton John on his presence on the music scene for the last 5 years would wonder how he came to be regarded so highly. There was however once a time, I kid you not, when he was known for the quality, originality and strength of his music. The album ‘ Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ is an example of Elton John at his best. The sad thing is that you are then saying his best was almost 30 years ago.
First though let’s get ‘Candle In The Wind’ out of the way. The original track is fine but the Princess Diana rework must now be considered a huge mistake. (It was rumoured there was going to be a Mother Teresa version called ‘...
