Advantages: Voice, music, lyrics Disadvantages: Only 13 Tracks
...is this album Voodoo. Though He had released songs in the five year period fans were waiting for another DAngelo album and they were not disappointed by what they heard on Voodoo. Here is my review of DAngelo's album Voodoo.
TRACK ONE - Playa, Playa
No it's not beach beach as in spanish but a funky party track which has a slightly jazz club feel with a saxaphone. The hard drum beat and bass guitar pin this track down and D'Angelo's soulful voice gives the song it's undoubted spark.
TRACK TWO - Devils Pie
This track starts like a hardcore rap track which you would associate with the collaborators on the following track with a thumping drum beat but it develops into a neosoul feel but still with the same thumping drum beat. A great change which will suprise some people.
TRACK THREE - Left and Right

Advantages: Can (and SHOULD) be played all the way through Disadvantages: THERE ARE ONLY 13 TRACKS!!!!
...The Cult-styled title gives justice to this amazing album, as Michael Eugene Archer (D'Angelo) delievers a magnificient blend of instrumentation, melodies and emotive vocals to create a 'Voodoo' worthy of its two Grammy Awards wins. After a five-year hiatus from his 1995 neo-soul debut "Brown Sugar", D'Angelo returned to music with a more mature and darker sound. "Brown Sugar" was a story-telling album whereas "Voodoo" concentrates on the more emotive side of music; with tracks like the smooth album-opener "Playa Playa", groovy "Left & Right" ft. Method Man & Redman, the sexy, seductive Prince tribute "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" and the inspirational final track "Africa". "Voodoo" is a timeless classic that can be played through from START to FINISH. Enjoy! Enjoy!! Enjoy!!!...

Advantages: Original Sound, Special Guests, One in a million Disadvantages: Don't buy it if your a 'chart' person
...Five years ago a groundbreaking r'n'b album called Brown Sugar was released by D'angelo. It was one of the smoothist, sexist albums ever.
Now the time has come for D'angelo to release his new offering Voodoo, one of the most eagerly awaited r'n'b albums ever! But will Voodoo live up to his own legend? Well from the funky first track 'Playa Playa' it would seem that D'angleo has spent the last five years wisely.
Voodoo is certainly not a repeat of Brown Sugar, more of the next step. D'angelo goes back to his roots and makes each of the thirteen tracks a pleasure to listen to. Voodoo mixes layers of Jazz, blues, soul and hip hop into one of the best albums of the new millenium. With guest apperances from Method Man and Redman in the cool 'left and right' and the thumping deep bass in 'devils pie' it urges you to turn...
