Advantages: Two excellent performances from Bernadette Peters and Robert Preston. Disadvantages: N/A
...What a gem of a show this is !!!!!.
Add to that also - you get Robert Preston and Bernadette Peters together singing. Wow !! Two amazing performers in their own right coming together to produce a quality performance.
Wonderful songs and excellent quality recording - it really speeds through this show at the rate of knots. Mack Sennet's life certainly is exlpained well from the opening through to the Finale.
I cannot complain about anything on this cd. ''Movies were Movies , Look What Happened to Mabel, I Won't Send Roses'' songs all fantastic and produced and arranged superbly.
The characterisations are brilliant and having seen this show several times it certainly reminds me of the age of the silent movies, the hundreds of performers and the Keystone Cops.
It's funny , witty , tuneful and Jerry Herman's music is terrific...

Advantages: This man has talent Disadvantages: May take a little work.
...When in 1994 Chris Botti came to release his debut album, he invited along his musician friends to the sessions, these sessions took place between September and October of that year in "New York". The album was released the following year.
This is an instrumental album except for 1 track; the album opens with a track called "Worlds Outside" which has a funky snare drum beat, which is underpinned with Mr Botti's trumpet playing the main theme that is then extenuated with the keyboard playing of Paul Joseph Moore of the Glasgow band The Blue Nile, Mr Moore also adds a sense of space with his use of piano on this piece.
The following piece, which has the title "On the Night Ride", has one of my personal favourite session men playing drums on it, Jerry Marotta (Jerry plays on 4 tracks on the album) has added his significant skills playing...

Lovely bloke Review ofBest Of Roy Orbison, The - Roy Orbisonby
michellej
Advantages: Disadvantages:
...I originally bought this album for my mother, and well since she's in a different country and disappeared yonder - I guess she can't have it!
Roy Orbison was one of the best in his time and with hits like 'I drove all night, 'Only the lonely', 'You got it', 'Crying' and 'She's a mystery to me', this is the album for the oldies. (Well, not old folk exactly, but you know what I mean).
Roy Orbison has a very deep voice I find and if he needs to hit the high notes, he doesn't have a problem at all.
This record is great whether you are young or old, or don't even know who Roy Orbison is!
It's all musical education!...
