This could be 'The One' for you
Review of One, The [Remastered] - Elton John by  cheepcheep1

Advantages: Digitally enhanced gives a sharper sound
Disadvantages: I sometimes think 'remastered' can make music sound too perfect.

...prefer to see the design on a perfume box! I would suggest that although there does not seem to be a song in the album that starkly stands out, it has been skilfully put together; it is melodic, good listening material. It carries the 'typically Elton' label in all the tracks and I am sure that all fans of Elton John will have already included it in their collection. For those of you who have yet to hear a taste of Elton, this is an easy listening album to start with. For me this album shows a softer and less flamboyant Elton, and is very pleasurable to listen to. I do not think I could write anything extra on the 'remastered one' other than what is here already. So original or remastered, the album is recommended to all and is easily obtainable from £5.99 for the remastered release or from £1.94 used from a reputable well... Read review

More than you think you are
Review of More Than You Think You Are [ECD] - Matchbox Twenty by  kylecoare

Advantages: Rob Thomas, fine music, suits all moods
Disadvantages: having to press the play button again after its finished!

...M A T C H B O X T W E N T Y ------------------------------------ MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE ------------------------------------------- When the band appeared in 1996, not many people were ready for what was to follow. Rising from the ashes of Tabitha's Secret, the band soon started to gain a following, this following got a whole lot bigger with the release of the bands debut album, 'Yourself or someone like you'. This album reached over 10 million sales, undoubtedly helped by the single 'push', which introduced a lot of people to this group and their rocking pop sound. After this massive start to the bands musical career it took four years for them to get their second album out, but the wait was well worth it, with the release of 'Mad Season' in 2000. This album took the bands rocking sound and gave it a more polished... Read review

Used to be the one with the naked ladies
Review of Electric Ladyland [Remastered] - Jimi Hendrix by  rsmith

Advantages: Classic tracks, truly experimental music
Disadvantages: Blues jams take a while to get into

...Mayfield, but there's no mistaking the bass guitar and Hendrix's lead guitar, doing adventurous things, way down in the mix. With "Crosstown traffic", famously used on TV ads, we're into more familiar Hendrix territory. I used to dislike the backing vocals, which always sounded rather 'thin', but I've got used to them now. A good put-down song, ("I've got better things on the other side of town") and a great track all round. "Voodoo chile", at 15 minutes long, is a mammoth jam session. For first time listeners, I think I'd advise programming it out to start with - it's excellent stuff, along the lines of what Eric Clapton would go on to do with Derek and the Dominoes, great blues, but not the strongest point on "Electric Ladyland", for me. Best appreciated later, when you've had your fill of the other tracks. "Burning of the midnight lamp... Read review
