You've Come A Long Way Baby (10th Anniversary Edition) - Fatboy Slim

Additional notes

Album Notes: YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. "Praise You" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
Japanese import has bonus song "The World Went Down."
Norman Cook, aka Fat Boy Slim, shows off his big beat-dance style once again with the release of YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY BABY. Packed with pure energy, smart breaks and edgy samples, YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY BABY is a strong follow up to 1997's BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY. The first single, "The Rockafeller Skank" cleverly uses a Lord Finesse vocal sample that dominates the massive-sounding track. In addition, the twangy surf guitars provide a texture not often heard in big beat.
"Gangster Tripping," the second single, is a funky, mind-bending head-nodder that uses smashing drums, horn shots, reggae breaks and filtering techniques. Other tracks to make you move are "Build it Up," the adrenaline wig-out "Acid 8000" and "Praise You," with its catchy, '70s-like piano hook. The title of this album speaks volumes about the state of Fat Boy Slim's work. Catch up or you'll get stomped by the big beat explosion.

Youve come a Long Way Baby - Yeh and im still goin
Review of You've Come A Long Way Baby [PA] - Fatboy Slim by  2000andone

Advantages: Suberb Listening
Disadvantages: A few tracks are very similar so it can get repetative

...Fatboy Slim: The legend begins. This album was the launcher of Normal cook's, known as the artist fatboy slim, huge music career and Dj'ing popularity buzz. The album was launched in 1998 after the huge sucess of his first hit single, Right here, Right now... The music on the album, You've come along way baby, as mostly acid house as this is the music norman specialises in. Which is an odd mix between Funky house music and acid jazz. Funky house music is more popular in the clubs and acid jazz can often be refered to as a form of "rave" music dipped in acid to get an edge that "rocks" as a fellow clubber once said. But then he also said that "if you drink vodka shots through your nose you dont get drunk" 1) whats the point in drinking them if you dont get drunk 2) what???? lol. Anyway... The tracks on the album are as follows, in... Read review

Fatboy Slim has come a long way
Review of You've Come A Long Way Baby [PA] - Fatboy Slim by  dsra999

Advantages: every track sounds good
Disadvantages: not applicable

...You've Come A Long Way Baby is a tremendous album and at the time of it's release it was a fresh new sound which everybody fell in love with. The album has a respectable 11 tracks all of which sound great and are hits within their own rite and from listening to these tracks you can also tell that cook has delved deep into his record collection and put many fantastic samples to use. The album kick starts with the great Right Here, Right Now this track alone is a huge step up since cook's earlier album Better Living Through Chemistry and sets the mark for the rest of the album which is instantly maintained with the next track The Rockafeller Skank. The Rockafeller Skank is another fantastic track and has a cool guitar groove with some nice beats and breaks i don't need to say much else everybody knows this track. There is then more... Review of You've Come A Long Way Baby [PA] - Fatboy Slim by  innovative

Advantages: some amazing dance tunes
Disadvantages: some tunes you can easily bored of

...fatboy slim has done some amazing tunes in his time, most of them you will have heard on the radio songs such as rockerfella skank and praise you. fatboy slims album youve come along way baby starts off with the song called right here right now. im sure youve heard it before i starts off really calm and soothing and escalades into an amazing dance tune its not too loud and off putting but it has got a lot of quite loud drumming its such an amazing tune. then it goes on to songs like 'f***ing in heaven', rockefella skank and praise you which are all great tunes but most people have heard them on the radio before. but there are two songs at the end called 'love island' and 'acid 8000' they are mixed together so it may seem like one song. they should have their own class they are absoloutly amazing songs i didnt know anyone could make...
