Fatboy Slim: The legend begins. This album was the launcher of Normal cook's, known as the artist fatboy slim, huge music career and Dj'ing popularity buzz. The album was launched in 1998 after the huge sucess of his first hit single, Right here, Right now...
The music on the album, You've come along way baby, as mostly acid house as this is the music norman specialises in. Which is an odd mix between Funky house music and acid jazz. Funky house music is more popular in the clubs and acid jazz can often be refered to as a form of "rave" music dipped in acid to get an edge that "rocks" as a fellow clubber once said. But then he also said that "if you drink vodka shots through your nose you dont get drunk" 1) whats the point in drinking them if you dont get drunk 2) what???? lol. Anyway...
The tracks on the album are as follows, in the order that they are on, on the CD;
1. Right Here, Right Now -Released on single earlier in the year that the album was released. A pure classic, that made him what he is today. 2. Rockafeller Skank -Released just after the album, which didnt even effect the sales, yet another hit from norman. 3. F%!*King In Heaven -Brilliant Dance song, im sure the young'uns love it becuase of the lycis but what can you expect. 4. Gangster Tripping -Also Released on single and sold as many copies as right here right now, as his career was well established by this time and songs where all loved. 5. Build It up, Tear It Down -Brilliant use of female focals in a very interesting mannor. 6. Kalifornia -Listen to the words on this track it has a heart warming message if you think about it. 7. Soul Surfing -Surfing on the cash because of this one more like, really popular with the more mellow music lovers. 8. You're Not from Brighton no im not. 9. Praise You -His best song ever, sold more copies than any other, really kicked up a story, loved by virtually every one who likes almost any time of music excluding metal lovers.(not there scene) 10. Love Island 11. Acid 8000 -This track really was the best song to end the album with, made you want to listen to the whole think it made full use of acid house!
This album maybe getting old now as he is on his third album, but i say if your only just discovering the world of normal cook, fatboy slim, then you have to get this album as it has all the classics on and it is still equally as good as any of his other albums and still i am not bored of it, which i should be by now, what with my past record. :)
Remeber fatboy slim might be F**king in heaven but thanks to him we are Listening in heaven ;)
