Advantages: Alto saxophony at it's best. Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste.
...~~~ArtPepper~~~
Continuing on a theme of Saxophone players that I have been reviewing and their albums, it is time for ArtPepper, well specifically the ArtPepper Quartet.
Whilst an all time great Alto Saxophonist, it is true to say that Art never got the exposure or accolades that people like Charlie Parker got. Similarily to Parker, he started playing in the 40's, he also had a heroin addiction, though unlike Parker, Pepper lived until he was nearly 60, still no great age.
He was a 'tight' player that seemed to appreciate precision and getting his notes crisp and clean. This was a criticism of him as he was seen to be 'detached' from his sax, not putting enough heart in, according some reviews I have read, personally I think his precision was all about heart.
This particular album was released in 2004, some 22 years after...

Advantages: Rock and roll....comedic style! Disadvantages: Disadvantages?!
...The world of rock music may be constantly changing with bands taking styles and "combining" them accordingly etc......however "comedy rock" was never really mastered, unless you count Spinal Tap! Tenacious D certainly seem to be the front-runners, however may I throw another band into the equation - Art Brut
Released earlier this year, "Bang Bang Rock & Roll" is the band's debut album and vocalist Eddie Argos certainly seems to have, on first impressions, startling similarities to Mike Skinner of The Streets's "talking" style of vocals, combined with raw, rash rock and roll. Is he really talking? Or as I'm sure the band would agree; singing in a style that is so ground-breaking that we simpletons cannot understand it.
Opening track "Formed a Band" does actually explain his vocal style to some extent - "this is my singing voice, it...

Advantages: Great Songs Disadvantages: Repetitive??
...The Artful Dodger album is great. It has a wide selection of different people singing to accompany their backing sounds. These people include Craig David, Michelle Escoffery, Robbie Craig, MC Alistair, and Romina Johnson. These are just a few of the people who are the CD. The CD overall is very good, offering a selection of R’N’B, Dance and mild pop. It is a CD for a mixed variety of people.
I bought this CD quite a while ago, back in 2000, but it has never stopped playing on my CD player. I love this CD because it has a great selection of types of music. I’m the type of person who can listen to almost any type of music. This CD is perfect for all my friends and me!
1. Think About Me
This song is one of my favourites. It is all about a woman leaving a man, and then him getting upset. The song is basically saying...
