Young, Loud and Snotty is definitely a recommended purchase, a classic punk or pre-punk rock album that defines the CBGB period. The Dead Boys from Cleveland, Ohio evolved from The Rocket from The Tombs and were originally called Frankenstein, after re-locating to New York they set out on their road to the rock n roll hall of fame.

This album is fast, raw, loud, sloppy and wild. I think it has aged less than any other older punk album and still sounds quite up to date. The lively Stiv Bators leads the band like very few other lead singers and his fearlessness and crazy antics lead to himself hanging himself on stage and being pronounced clinically dead for several minutes several years later with The Lords of the New Church. He did however survive this incident.

Great hits of the album for me are the world reknown "Sonic Reducer" and the dirty, grimey, "Caught with the Meat in Your Mouth" and "I Need Lunch", the fast and furious "Down in Flames", the dramatic "Not Anymore" and a great cover of "Hey Little Girl"

An additional mention has to go to lead guitarist Cheetah Chrome who is often overlooked perhaps due to Stiv's liveliness. He is highly under-rated and one of the best guitarists of the punk generation and also influenced any number of NWBHM in my opinion. He's kept a relatively low profile since his days with The Dead Boys and could have been so much more well known.

Flying through 11/12 songs in around 35 minutes, this is punk rock at it's best. This a must album for anyone into the punk genre and in particular for those who like The Stooges, New York Dolls and The Ramones.
