Advantages: The Pete Townshend "magnum opus"; the finest production by The Who. Symphonic in its magnitude; superb songs, playing, arrangements Disadvantages: Takes a little concentration and study - but then don't all great works of art?
.... The booklet also contained the printed words.
My current copy is the American CD release on MCA records. This is again a double album but somewhat unusually each CD comes in its own jewel box.
QUADROPHENIA – SO WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
The central character of “Quadrophenia” is Jimmy – a mod youth. Already we realise that this is a retrospective, Townshend’s take on the life and times of youth ten years previously at a time of the band’s formative years. He has said that he was never a mod himself but The Who were adopted as “the” Mod band. Remember that the South coast of England was the playground (and hunting ground) of gangs of Rockers (leathers and motorcycles) and Mods (Lambrettas and parka jackets). The year 1963 was notorious for the gang warfare that broke out in Brighton and other resort towns.
The story starts on the album cover...

Advantages: Quality musicianship Disadvantages: not everyone's cuppa tea
...'Forgiven Not Forgotten' was a fantastic discovery for new Corrs fans on the back of their 1998 UK breakthrough with it's followup 'Talk on Corners'. Though less commercial and harder edged than the second album, it is the Corrs on top form displaying there fantastic combination of pop-
rock and celtic melodies.
Originally released in 1995, it was a bestseller in their homeland as well as Europe and Asia. The cover and sleeve are basic, with a traditional Irish edge just like thir music. Just incase you aren't familiar with The Corrs, they are three sisters and a brother from Dundalk in the rep. of Ireland. They are Andrea- vocals and whistle, Sharon- violin, Caroline- drums, piano and bodhran, and Jim- guitar and keyboards.
The Irish siblings are now well known for their pop tunes interweaving...

Advantages: My #1 album Disadvantages: You can't improve on perfection!
...The Jam have had the biggest influence on me out of anything in my record collection; and that includes the Beatles (who in my opinion were always a little bit hyped)! Comprising of Paul Weller (Vox, Lead Guitar) Bruce Foxton (Bass, Backing Vox) and Rick Buckler (Drums) the Jam are my favourite band of all time. In the late 70s and early 80s the three musical musketeers took the charts and hearts of the UK (and beyond) by storm. I have lived in Woking, where they come from (just outside SW London) and can relate to their, how shall I say, despair at the whole blandness of it all. It isn't hard to see why they wanted to escape so young. They just got better and better throughout their relatively short career and have left a deep, indelible footprint in my musical heart.
