Advantages: Paved the way for every great guitar band since 1989. Disadvantages: Slightly muted production, "Don't Stop".
...have their riffs sung at a concert? An insistent drum beat kicks in, and all you can do is surrender, as John Squire's shimmering guitar intro chimes and echoes down your spine.
Ian Brown's vocal is pitched perfectly - half sung, half whispered, the repeated intonation of "I don't have to sell my soul / He's already in me" is mesmerising. As we will see with the rest of the album, the religious imagery is something that was present in a lot of The Stone Roses' work. The meaning of I Wanna Be Adored isn't clear. Is there a religious connotation? Is it a statement of intent, or a swipe at celebrity? It is this mystery that makes the lyrics on this song and this album so seductive.
The song ends with a strangely distorted, yet deliberately empty guitar sequence, as Brown cries out the eponymous lyric one final time. By itself, perhaps not...

Advantages: simple, soft, easy Disadvantages: not my thing, too techno-sounding5
...with blondie style electronics from the keyboard. The song again is good in all parts but not outstanding in any, which is a shame as it's just about there but falls slightly short right through. The catchy lyrics at the end help to just elevate this above the opener. But again 8/10
"Fools" fills the third position on the CD a nice start to the song that has you tapping your feet right through the intro, when Broudies voice kicks in you automatically feel happier. The dream like sounds of the previous song continues here just with a slightly different feel, maybe a slightly let down feel. This song seems to ditch the strong electronica sounds and focus more on the fundemental guitar, with a nice bit of electronic sounds weaving the way in and out. Another above average song but again fails to hit the dizzy heights of some of the 'Seed's parst...

Advantages: The Cure...and so great, and jolly, and ace! Great lyrics. Great tunes! Woo! Disadvantages: Not many, they're too jolly! Haha
...song even if they are unaware of it!
"I would break down at your feet, and beg forgiveness, plead with you. But I know that it's too late, and now there's nothing I can do...So I tried to laugh about it, cover it all up with lies. I tried to laugh about it, hiding the tears in my eyes. Cause boys don't cry. Boys don't cry."

This song begins with a clear drum beat and guitar, bass then enters and the tune is on a roll. There are some odd "space" type sounds throughout the song too, which I can only describe through text as a "chooooooooo".... Imagine some doors sliding open on the Star Ship Enterprise or something. But they happen throughtout the song, and if you know the song, you will know what I mean. This is another great song, with great lyrics, and experimentation running...
