Hundred Reasons - Kill Your Own
Review of Kill Your Own - Hundred Reasons by  carl.mcqueen

Advantages: A strong return from an underrated band
Disadvantages: Still not quite reaching their full potential......

..."Kill Your Own" is the third studio album from British hard-rock band Hundred Reasons, following the unprecedented success of debut release "Ideas Above Out Station" and it's follow-up "Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge". Released in early 2006, it is the band's first album since their change to the label V2 Music. Many people felt that the band's follow-up from their debut album was somewhat of a let down considering the success of "Ideas Above Our Station" that broke them out of the underground and into the mainstream, so with that in mind, many people awaited for this album with baited breath, to see if the band could return to successful ways, or whether or not their debut was a mere fluke...... Opening track "Broken Hands" starts things off excellently, and from a personal point of view, out does more or less every track off... Read review

70 Minutes of madness...
Review of Journeys By DJ Vol.8 - Coldcut by  bergmcberg

Advantages: This is THE best DJ mix album I have ever heard
Disadvantages: If you dont like dance music you wont like it

...and Louis Vega, who serve up a slice of nostalgia here with vocals lifed from some sort of old reggae tune. 20. Trumpet Riff - Raphael Corderos. This is an incidental, which plays over the top of "Blood vibes" and sets the scene. 21. Grace - Luke Slater's 7th plain. Another incidental 22. First time ever I saw your face - Joanna Law. Recently worked into a house track this version is far better, and provides the second opportunity for the listener to catch a breath and soak up the silky smooth vocals on offer. 23. Balthus bemused by colour - Harold Budd. An atmospheric swirly instrumental with Martin Luther king providing some weighty inspiration as his " I have a dream" speech is used. 24. Into the 90's - Photek. His 2nd appearance on the album, Photek summons up a summery slab of synthesiser sounds. 25. Bridge is over - BDP. KRS1 and DJ... Read review

Shakira's Oral Treats!!
Review of Fijacion Oral Vol.1 (+DVD) - Shakira by  mavimelek

Advantages: Different to the norm, a bit of culture.
Disadvantages: Not as many good songs as I was expecting.

...OK, so I'm assuming that we all know Shakira, from her belly-wiggling 'Whenever Wherever' hit, well, the album that that song came from managed a massive 13X platinum. Shakira has a total of 25 million+ album sales, and has gathered among literally hundreds of other awards, 3 Latin Grammys no less! Shakira is seen as a child prodigy, writing her first song at just 8 years old, and signing her first record contract with Sony Music Colombia at the age of just 13, amazing. So, it should come as no surprise that a lot of people have been waiting a long time for this album, including me!! Fijacion Oral Vol.1 was released on June 7th 2005, and is to be followed up by Oral Fixation Vol.2 in November 2005. This is because Shakira sat down to write, and realised that she had clocked up 200 songs, after windling them down to her favourite... Read review
