Kill For Meis the latest book by Karen Rose, it follows straight on from Scream For Me, her previous novel.
And when I say straight on, I mean that literally, if you haven't read Scream For Me you will have no chance of understanding the plot of Kill For Me. In fact I had to read the last third of Scream For Me in order to refresh myself as to the plot, since it had been a while ago when I read it.
It' s a bit hard therefore to put a plot synopsis in the review, as anything I write about the beginning of this book will be a spoiler for the end of her last book. So I'll separate the plot off in the box below, so that it's easy for anyone to skip over.

. Undoubtedly The Kills do possess this special something; they are capable of writing stunningly catchy riffs. The trouble is they tend to dilute this genius over four or five minutes when two or three would do just fine. It is inevitable that those lacking the patience and imagination to listen to authentic blues music will find that this album provides at least a little entertainment. As it stands though I can find very little that makes me want to come back and listen to this album and as a result I would struggle to recommend this to anyone. ...

this is partly because Alice's previous boyfriend, Jake, is not entirely convincing as her love interest either. There is the vague suggestion that Alice and Jake are very happy at the start of the film, but there is no real evidence to back it up. Whilst their lack of onscreen chemistry may help us to realise why she feels able to leave him, it is hard for anyone watching to believe that there was ever any strong feelings between them in the first place.
The fact that we are not given the chance to get to understand the relationship between Jake and Alice (before Alice leaves him for a random bloke she meets on the street) prevents us from developing any sympathy with her as a character.
