After the first Kaiser Chiefs album, i have to confess that my opinion on it was divided. The quicker, louder songs are much more suited to the Leeds band but last time there were too many slower attempts at harmonies more than the up-tempo racous songs they are famous for. This didn't work and I was really hoping that the new album would be full of the more up-beat tracks.

The first track, the single Ruby sets it off at an exciting pace seriously making you want more. However, I am always concerned when opening singles as sucessful as Ruby start off a new album just in case it cannot live up to the high standards.

Yours Truly, Angry Mob is an exception to the cause. The second and next single, The Angry Mob is certain to be one of the singles of the year and people will struggle to get it out off their heads.

After the first few songs, it begins to feel as though they may have just cracked it. However, the tempo does slow down on Love Is Not A Competition and it struggles to reach the earlier heights until later on with songs like Everything Is Average and Learnt My Lesson Well.

All in all, maybe the Kaiser Chiefs have tried too hard with this record. Unlike most bands, they would be better sticking to the same formula everytime instead of a variation. At 13 tracks long, it could have been more beneficial to scrap the odd slower song to keep the listener entertained to the very end.
