Album Reviews: CMJ (3/8/99, p.26) - \"...Pep Squad whips up a honeyed concoction of fluid melodies, warm choruses streaked with \"oohs\" and \"aahs,\" dreamy harmonies and grainy guitars that could melt the icicles off the heart of the coldest anti-pop curmudgeon...\"
Advantages: Brand new sound in the UK Disadvantages: Only 11 tracks :(
...Imagine a mixture between So Solid Crew and Blue and you have Blazin Squad. They all grew up together in East London and all shared one love, and that was mc-ing. So,one day a mate of theirs was doing work experience at a local recording studios. They recorded a demo and became very successful on the underground with a track called, "Standard Flow", and bang..Blazin Squad were catapulted into the world of music.
The album is a wicked debut. Most people either love or hate Blazin Squad. But you can only say you hate something if you have tried it,so my advice is to try it then judge it.
The first track is I Understand, it's a mellow kinda chiiled out song, this is the same with I Belong to you, and Supastar. More garage and uptempo tracks such as Riders,Standard Flow and The Love Song are also great.
Obviously there are the singles...

Advantages: Good range of urban pop tunes Disadvantages: couple of songs too fast to sing along to
...i think that blazin squads album is targeted at teenagers because its has an urban poppy sound . it is hard to sing along to in some songs but overall can do karaoke along with this album. The songs are all about teenage lads experiences with girls and school life. Most of the songs are written by blazin squad themself. The album has one cover track which was their debut single croosroads. It also includes their top ten singles reminsce, love on the line, and where the story ends. My favourite track is i understand because its catchy and about how girls keep their feelings to themselves when boys can help you get through tough times. My worst track is standard flow because the beat and tempo is so fast i cannot understand what they are saying and cannot sing along to this tune....

Advantages: this album is very catchy, godd tunes Disadvantages: none
...Personally i think the reason why you dont like the album, is because Blazin squad(Reepa,Strider,Flava, Freek,Tommy-b, Rocky-b, Krazy, melo-d and Spike-e) are aimed at people aged 12 and over.
Track.1.(I Understand) is a bit slow but has some good lyrics to it. At first it sounds strange because its sort of slushy but with a beat. It's all about understanding what your boy-girlfreind is going through.
Trakc.2.(Love on the line) is about your boy-girlfriend being away for a long peroid of time and talking to them on the phone and telling them how much ur missing them. It was released, as their 2nd single and fell to no.6. in the charts. I can see how it didnt get to no.1. as it is slow but in the same light catchy.
Track.3.(Crossroads) was relsead as their 1st single and went straight in at no.1. as a cover for tha Bone Tugs n Harmony...
