Album Reviews: Jazziz (9/95, p.88) - "...[an] excellent group CD..."
...i thought that this cd was outstanding. i absolutely love u.srinivas' music and am a huge fan. his style of playing and nuances are truly unique. Zakirhussain is such a brilliant precussionist and is so well established that anything besides perfection can not be expected. i find these two so brilliant and talented that even i get jelous! ;) Then i absolutely love Vikku Vinayakram on south indian precussion. he is so immensly talented and has such a talent for complicated technical and mathematical cycles and rhythmic improvisation. john mc.laughin however, does not play to my taste and does not fulfill the wishes i would have from him. i find him too uncomprimising and after u srinivas has played i always forward johns bits. im sorry to say that but i dont really feel his vibes and emotion through his playing. apart from that these...

Advantages: Classic west coast rap for the modern listener Disadvantages: None
...Having blasted out on the west coast rap scene in 1997, Jurassic 5 is the type of group that remind you of the way rap was 'back in the day' when The Pharcyde and the Black Eyed Peas blared out of Ghetto Blasters on street corners.
Having established themselves in 97 with the self-title LP, Jurassic 5 followed up with 'Quality Control' in 2000 15 songs loaded with cool cuts, phat rhythms and sweet beats.
Quality Control stays true to J5's roots and even uses the lyrics to the timeless 'Concrete Schoolyard' and gives it a fresh beat. Songs like 'Quality Control' will have you boppin' your head, but my personal favourite is 'Swing Set' a classic tribute to the great swing era of the '20s, '30s and 40's, with a modern twist. Djs Cut-Chemist and Nu-Mark never fail to impress, and with the crisp vocals of Charli 2na and Zakir...

Advantages: Breakbeat at it's best ! Disadvantages: Not what The Prodigy are releasing current day, if you are into them now
..., and thus recorded a video for the single encompassing a young cartoon boy with a cat named "Charly". Everyone knew that the actual title of the track had slightly different connotations, much more in keeping with what was going on and continues to go on in the rave scene.
Although Experience is considered one of the oringial rave / breakbeat albums, it does include a large amount of hip-hop rhythms and provides early tell tale signs of Liam Howletts fantastic ability to fuse different styles and make it work to tremendous effect. The band where then and remain today about evolution, something evry branch of music has done since the year dot. Most of today's most successful artists have an abilityto blend and fuse different styles to bring something new to the masses, providing fresh appeal. To me, The Prodigy are centrally about...
