Pop annual 2004
Review of Annual Spring 2004, The - Various Artists by geordie4eva

Advantages: good 1st disc
Disadvantages: very, very commercial (like most ministry cd's now), even cheesy at points.

Disc 1 is a very funky, summery mix of mostly excellent tunes, however, they are very commercial. at times it sounds like listening to the radio. Disc 2 i found to be poor. its very dull, flat trance music that doesnt lead anywhere or have any life to it. overall i give it 4/10 and wouldnt really reccomend it. ministry of sound are becoming more and more pop, and less and less dance music. at times dics 1 becomes very annoying, it sounds exactly ...
...1, is good, but it is still very commerical you can get into the disc, and it is very funky/likeable. however even on this disc some songs just dont fit in, "basement jaxx- plug it in" what? this tune is very guitar-like and sounds more rock than dance... ? overall...its just "ministry of sound" ... Great album with a retro 80's feel
Review of Ghettoblaster - Armand Van Helden by skinnyman9000

Advantages: Retro vibe, summer tunes, good mixture of style, very 'of the moment'
Disadvantages: Some tracks clearly designed for commercial popularity

This is an excellent album, definately of its time! House music has become popular in many clubs over the past 12 months, and this album serves to further than popularity. Although the majority of house music has had a dance/deep and dirty edge to it, this album is very light and funky. It has a major 80's feel to it, very retro and cool, definately a summer album. My personal favourites are tracks 3 & 5, neither very manly tracks, but thats the ...
...very innovative work over the past 10 years, and this album has to be one of his best to date. Some big name collaberations too, such as 'Touch your toes' ft Big Joe. However, this track didnt seem to get as much air time and notice as 'NYC beat', which i feel is obviously one of the more mainstream aiming tracks of the album. Overall a very good piece of work, i love it and have listened to it over and over again, as will you!! ... Read review

Hooked!
Review of Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) - Groove Armada by tim18

Advantages: Bass hooks and drum kicks set to destroy any soundsystem!
Disadvantages: Majority of the album may be too slightly down-tempo for some people!

...of their previous album (Vertigo), Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) had an awful lot to live up to in my eyes. To me, Vertigo was a phenomenal success that offically launched GA into the music world. I absoloutely loved the Vertigo album, that included such hits as "If Everybody Looked the Same" and "At the River," and this album carried on their form. The opening track, "Suntoucher," is a slow-building dub-style track, which breaks out a supercool ...
...more uptempo numbers, like "Superstylin'" (now an absolute clasic) and "Fogma," don't rush into anything, but build slowly before the bass hook and drums kick in with devastating effect on any soundsystem. Goodbye Country is another musical triumph for Groove Armada, with every track as good as the one before. ... Read review

Now Hit The Dance Floor
Review of Beat'n Down Yo Block [PA] - Unk by XICripZ

Advantages: All the dance tracks are of the highest quality
Disadvantages: Lyrics aren't the best

...1. Intro 2. Beat'n Down Yo Block I felt that there were similarities between this track and others which artists from the region have come out with. The closest track to it for me is Jibbs' "King Kong", as these both refer to the booming sound which their cars make as they enter a neighbourhood. I felt that it was a good way to introduce the album as Unk tells you that the LP should be played so the whole street can hear it. **Four Stars** 3. ...
...heard from Unk, way back in 2006, and as I had just got into the Snap form of rap after hearing a little Soulja Boy and Dem Franchize Boyz, this played up to exactly what I wanted to here; a big dance track from Atlanta. it seems as though if you make a dance rap track in any of the big southern cities of the US, and accomplany it with an actual dance; , you are bound to do well. This is the case with this track as it blew up the clubs in the Dirty ... Read review

CHEMICALLY IMBALANCED...LOVE ITTTT!!!!
Review of Chemically Imbalanced [PA] - Ying Yang Twins by emak1990

Advantages: Amazing!
Disadvantages: ...

I love the Ying Yang twins and this album is yet another success. The songs are a mixture of hip hop and gangster rap. Thier very distinctive voices make them different to other artists of the same genre. 'Dangerous' was the first song released from this album and my all time favourite, It features the vocal talent of Wyclef Jean. The subject of their songs are mainly strippers and women therefore there is some bad launguage although i believe you ... Read review
